I still think that it is really odd that indoors and in dungeons, objects don't cast shadows. Especially in dungeons this would add a lot to the atmosphere.

I can understand that this can be a huge hit to the performance. I was in the basement of a house and the fps dropped drastically. I guess it would be even worse with shadows. Yet I think it is very odd to not have shadows indoors... It just looks... not right... Maybe it could be optional to enable indoor shadows?

Yes, optional indoor shadows is a great idea.

Even better would be shadows that dance and dim with the flickering of the fire...

Seeing the quantity of light sources on the pictures, it is totally understandable why they are not allowing shadowing a house.

    Options, IMO:
    • Allow all light sources to allways cast shadows on basements, they are instanced. Maybe restrict them with a higher max number than the public instances.
    • On public instances we could be able to set what light sources will cast shadows with a max numbers of them (on the house menu, an option to "click what your shadow casting light sources will be, max 10").
    • Optionally/additionally, we could be able to set house lightsource shadowing On/off on options menu (off default). A client side option, obviously.
