Missing an opportunity for a good gold sink.

Missing an opportunity to make Ardoris more sociable and allowing players to traffic through more areas of the town.

    For gold sink, yes.

How does charging gold for passage create an opportunity make Ardoris more sociable?

Might work if the boat was on the far side of town so as to encourage more foot traffic on the seaward side. It's a bit quiet over there.

If they charged gold they would probably never ever be used, just like the mages at Brightbone Pass who also never get used (where there is actually some danger in not using them).

The other night I was thinking that the boats between Novia and the Hidden Vale should have a GP cost for use.

    Nope.

Please don't do this, Ardoris is painful enough as it is, adding insult to injury is just more stick, more punitive. Don't do it.
