    Greetings Anglers!
Welcome to the weekly fishing contest instructions thread! These contests run for 1 week intervals, Friday Noon to Friday Noon CT. We'll announce the winners every Friday during the livestream.

    TOWN REGISTRATION:
Each week, the contest takes place in 3 Player Owned Towns, 1 Random PvP location and 1 Random Lava or NPC Town Location. Please register your Player Owned Town of choice in a reply to this thread, 1 entry per player, and these entries will be added into the town registry. The contest will cycle through the towns in the sequence they entered the town registry, then loop back again to the beginning. The town registry will be reset/wiped for new entries periodically to ensure only active/interested towns are within the registry.

    FISHING PRIZES & OBJECTIVES:
All prizes will be no-trade. Players may donate additional prizes in the name of their guilds or towns to sweeten the pot. This event is live as of Friday the 22nd at Noon to Friday the 29th at Noon, and this is this week's prizes and goals:

    Largest FRESH Fish (Town):
-- Rules: Must be caught from one of these towns
-- Prizes: Player Owned Town Row Lot Deed, Large Gold Fishing Trophy
    Crystal Cove (@Scooby Doo)
    Crafters Town (@Elrond)
    Riptown Creek (@Mhtic)

RECOMMENDED: Please put a mailbox for your anglers to use by the water. For salt or fetid water contests, town owners can receive a loaner statue to convert the water type of their town to that of the contest, if required.
    Largest Fish (PvP):
-- Rules: Must be caught in Dysborg Ruins
-- Prizes: 2 Chained Obsidian Shard 3-Packs, Large Silver Fishing Trophy

    Largest Lava Fish:
-- Rules: Must be caught in Bunker C (Near the ore nodes at -19.058, -16.081, 179.324)
-- Prizes: Fishing Rod of Prosperity, Large Bronze Fishing Trophy

    Participation Prizes:
-- Rules: Everyone who submitted an entry that did not win an above prize
-- Prizes: Small Silver Fishing Trophy

    CROSS-OVER EVENTS:
Prizes provided by the Community Manager will be available for attendees of the PvP and Fishing events, but governors, guild leaders and players are welcome to sweeten the pot by providing additional prizes based on objective criteria entirely of their own design. In fact, please consider planning events to overlap the duration and chosen weekly locations of the PvP and Fishing developer events. Please post these events in the in-game events forums and the Community Manager will promote accordingly. After the first week of these events, likely there will be a pause for planning before additional weeks start rolling in, but after that point? Expect a constant stream of weekly events, each to feature new locations and new objectives. Please submit links to event threads which take place in the spotlighted towns, PvP zone or PvE zone.

    Current Crossovers:
-- Riptown Creek: @Mhtic is offering an additional 1000 COTO's as a prize if the first place winner catches their fish in Riptown Creek

    GUIDELINES:
Here's some guidelines to consider for this contest.
    • One fish entry... per player... per prize category... can be submitted. Once you've sent in an entry for that category, no other entries will be accepted for that category from the same player.
    • Send the fish to Elgarion or ElgarionGM using the in-game mail system.
    • You'll always receive your fish back -- no worries! I have to send you participation trophies anyway, even if you aren't a winner.

Alrighty, ready for feedback and also ready for Town Registrations! Not sure how many towns will be in the first of these events, but we'll see how many submissions we get. My goal is to keep player activity somewhat compressed to encourage more player interactivity, so it'll be likely 3 or so towns max each week.

@Elgarion Is the leader boards system being adapted or extended to track this? It would be nice if so, not only would it help you as it could track the event for you, but also give players insight into where they stand currently. I guess it that becomes really successful, then it could be further extended with a verbal Darkstarr notification of, "We're throwing you back!" when a current leader in a category gets bumped.

@Elgarion My main concern for this event is that towns with different water types have different size of fish, especially the salt water fish are much larger than the fresh water ones, so it would be nice if the towns each week had the same type of water. Or alternatively have different prize pool for different water types.
Also is fishing in dungeon located in town okay to get fish from fetid water even if the town has fresh water?

Town owners can place deco to change their water variety... if any town participating does not have these items or are too strapped to purchase, I can loan them one. Not sure why there isn't a conversion to fresh water, but perhaps the largest fish sizes aren't there anyway. Not positive... I'll learn more about the ranges of fish sizes per fish soon, so I can vary the fishing objectives each week.

My goal for having a small # of towns each week is to promote side-by-side community gameplay, and not having people hiding in their dungeon to fish. Also, I'm not positive what the tooltip would say that fish was fished from, if fished from a dungeon. If it doesn't say the source town, then it's definitely a no. PERHAPS though... one week we do dungeon fishing competitions as a separate concept once I see tooltips from fishies coming from dungeons.

So swamp towns still have fresh water? Coastal are still fresh too? That's awfully weird, but I'm not arguing -- thanks Alley :)

Got you on the list, thanks Lord Andernut -- you make #3, so the first week this goes live (likely Friday at Noon until Friday the next week, it'll be Dragomir Mori, Caer Dracwych and New Britannian Market.
Devil's Lair added to the registry Trinity! I've decided to limit it to 3 towns per week (the goal being trying to get players into the same scenes together in a bit more compressed fashion), so you'll be one of the 3 the following week. And keep in mind, now that you're on the registry, it'll loop back to hit your town again.
