The Chest Mimic is awesome, but it's a little bit OP. (as are all tamed pets)

One balance idea I'd like to request would be for the Chest Mimic to slowly eat gold from the character that is using it. I think this would help balance out some of the over use of this pledge reward. Plus it's immerssive. No gold, no chest mimic.

    It's a chest, it likes gold. :)

P.S. This would be great for tamed pets too. No food, no tamed pet.

    How is it over-powered?

Chest mimic is only really useful at low levels.. like the other pledge rewards.. I don't think it needs to be nerfed.

Honestly it is a little unimpressive in practice considering its item description.

"This horn will summon a Chest Mimic which is automatically tamed; this is the unique ability to tame an elusive monster that an ordinary player could never tame!"

It's very good for leveling quick in the early levels. Which is great, it's a useful pledge reward. But it's kind of pay to win. I'd love it if it literally said "Pay to win!" and ate your in-game gold up every time you used it. :)

I don't want it to be nerfed, just balanced.

I would also like it if the chest mimic required gold to heal itself. That would be so cool!

Hmm... I used it a couple releases back and found that I could level just as fast without it and I would be training my actual skills, so it was actually faster to not use it.

It's more powerful than summoned creatures. It's far from the most powerful tamed creature however. What it's really great at is killing low level stuff (that summoned creatures can't kill on their own) and filling up your XP pool.

I like mine because it's a ugly little rascal and it beats a falcon any day. I am just waiting for it to learn how to dance . Mine is a little on the command short, won't sit worth a durn and definitely won't beg yet. Gets fed enough , does not need my hard earned gold as well.:rolleyes::)

Right, and then go train your skills rather than just using those skills to kill the mobs in the first place, so it literally takes you twice as long to train your skills.

No, you're missing part of the equation.

The more you have in your pooled xp, the faster you train. So by allowing the chest mimic to kill off everything, you're able to train much MUCH faster than someone that just goes out and does it alone. It's hard to solo and keep that xp pooled at a high level. (at least for me)

I've found this to not be true in the last couple of releases.

Hmmm, I'll have to pay more attention then. I just leveled up at lower levels and hadn't noticed the change. (if there's been one)

Once again I like your idea :) .. It can also be balanced out with strength versus appetite ( Amount of food needed or gold consumption )

Also the bigger or stronger the pet the more food it needs. So that way Avatars cannot just go around and summon big RED ferocious Spiders if they have enough focus. they would also need to carry food which is a Finite resource that they would either have to stop and pick from the wild or purchase at a vendor..

hmmm I like were this going actually..It can make the game more interesting and fun by adding more depth..

I have a member of my guild that is a tammer, ( That's all she was doing :) ) and kept giving me pets as gifts for Silver I was getting her. so I ended up with all kinds of pets even at a medium low level about 50.
At level 50 I tried using those pets for a bit and it was like going rabbit hunting with a machine gun.

I was thinking I should not be able to use an obsidian Wolf at my level. ( 50 ) yes there was focus drain but it would be even more interesting I think if I had to also carry food for my wolfs hungry appetite :)
Different foods for different pets as well in different locations of the map..

1: Spider eat flies or insects ( So insects or flies should be needed to feed a combat spider pet )
2: Bears ( perhaps honey or berries )
3: Wolvs ( any type of meat )
4: Chest mimic ( Gold or any of the above )
    5: Obsidian stag ( berries )

    ~Animal or Robot~o_O?'

There are times when I think that tamed animals should act differently is different regions.... and that some animals may not like being tamed, becoming sad after a time in captivity like Shamo and try to kill their handler.... or turn around and head back home like a house will tend to do without it's main trainer (they even do it then sometimes).

Maybe a chest mimic doesn't preform as well in the wilderness and prefers to be used indoors or in dungeons... it could even be shy and prefer the dark over being in the light.

My point is, that these animals or monsters are not robots and therefore need their differing personality traits as well as limitations and differing values based on region used, the time of day or night they are used and how much they are used.
