I spent a good 6 hours out skinning trying to find suet for armor last night. I was in 4 separate zones (2 to 4 skull zones) and after many many animal deaths, I only walked away with 2 suet. My skinning is in the 50s and crtis don't seem to yield any reward. I find it even worse to get a beetle carapace off a cotton bush, but that may be due to the animals being more prevalent than cotton bushes.

    What are everyone else's experiences?

I would say mine is significantly better than yours for skinning... cotton is bad though.

Is your skinning higher level? Are there better mobs to find the suet on? Does the area level matter? Been bears, wolves and crocs for me so far. Maybe it is just dumb luck, but it was really bad last night.

I'm doing ok with the suet but not too good with the beetles. Probably not hitting bushes that are high enough. Getting a lot bunch of other ingredients though that I thought disappeared like aeorticwhatchamacallit, blackmungbeansorsomething, etc.?

Higher level mobs helps. My skinning is not higher though my producer level probably is.

I am an avid harvester from last wipe series and this one, and I have not noticed a decline, it may just be bad luck you are experiencing. I am getting suet np from 4 skull and even 2 skull with not much issue.

I get lots of suet in Deep Ravenswood (large timber wolves and elder wolves) and in Wyrmsands off of Corpions, Large Corpions and the Large desert wolves.

Beetle Carapace is definately rare. Besides the fact that cotton takes forever to harvest :)

I hope if my meticulous increases I'll pick enough cotton to keep up with the beetles I get. Right now I need to buy cotton off the public vendor to supplement.

In R26 you sometimes get rare drops in easier scenes, and I like that. I just spent 30 minutes in North Celestial Wetlands (outside Solania) and got 5 suet and 1 beetle carapace. If I had just been after those things I would have got more, but I was looking for wood and mandrake, too.

I've found beetles in most areas that are not intro areas (in hidden vale). The sandy zones seems good. Perhaps these beetles like it hot? Plains of Righ Inis has a nice all you can gather buffet. Maple, Pine, Iron, Copper, Cotton, all the rares, wood scrap supply, leather scrap supply, metal scrap supply. Mysterios swamp works. Deep Ravenswood works. Wyrmsands and the equivalent in Grunvald works. Shardfalls work.

Also... while I'm getting beetles it is taking me a half day of gaming to get enough to craft a chest piece. It's not like I'm casually gathering! Its what I dothe most of. I'm thinking of buying an EVL Ferocious Red Spider so I can gather with a psychotic body guard.

I use the /smear-yourself-in-manure emote. It really attracts the bugs.
