    Welcome back Starr. Great video!

    I got certified in Cozumel and it was fantastic diving down there! Drift diving is soooo relaxing. ;)

    My vacation starts June 30th and we're going on a Caribbean cruise. We plan to do some diving on our stop in San Juan, Puerto Rico so I can't wait.

    There is also amazing diving south of Cozumel in the Playa Del Carmen/Secret area. There are some caves in the jungle that are spectacular. My RL husband is rescue certified so I only enjoy it from his insanely incredible videos.

    Yes. Cenotes! That was the cave I couldn't remember the name of. The guy who owned a dive shop we frequented for 10+ years is a very good friend. He took a bunch of divers with him to the "hole" and told me (i.e. non-diver) to stay near the hole in case of any wild animals that would get me. He was joking but I was terrified to move from the hole. So insanely beautiful. I can imagine with the career you have, the total silence and peacefulness of places like Cenotes is exactly what you need. I have a picture my husband took of the sunlight streaming down through a hole in the cave roof into the crystal clear water. It looks like a picture of a sunray. No one can believe it's actually water.

    BUT WELCOME BACK! Almost time to rock and roll with our persistent world!!!

    Where did you shoot that, coral in that spot looks relatively healthy around that turtle.

    Been diving Cozumel since the early 90s (The Mayan Riveria Highway was just a swerving two lane road) monitoring the reefs out there till 2008 (using Si'an Kaan Biosphere reserve as a control).

    There was observable degradation of the reefs during that time (Paradise reef was destroyed to allow for the cruise ships to enter). Our transects often yielded a piece of bleached coral or presence of disease.

    Not observing any in that bit of film (Course, need a little bit better lighting. Colors are filtered out due to depth).

    Hope it means the reefs are recovering.

    Been a long time since I have been there. Need to head back. I know there still some great spots to dive.
    Also want to go back to exploring the Nohoch cenote system...that some crazy scary cave diving.

    Cenotes was a dive that I regret not having done while I was there. A bunch of the divers on our trip did it and they raved about the experience.

    Can't wait to see that video Starr!
