So, I read somewhere that there is no decay for dying in PvP because you get no xp from PvPing.

I really would like to suggest no decay for fall damage if that is the case, because I do not get any xp for climbing rocks and houses and statues. I lose plenty when I smash myself against the ground though.

i'd like that too, but you'd have people exploiting it by running away from fights they're losing off of convenient cliffs.

I am sure people can exploit no PvP decay too if their unpartied friend finishes them off. It might be quite tricky to find convenient cliff on many maps, anyway in towns for example is no (dangerous) PvE. I can kill a sheep or watcher, but they do not fight back. If PvP is excluded from decay, gravity should be excluded too.

No that would allow people to explore and have fun. There is none of that allowed here, only PVP

If I can run away from a fight, I would just keep running until I lost aggro. I don't think people would jump off cliffs(wrecking their durability) to avoid decay when you can just keep running.

There are plenty of places where dying by jumping off a cliff is helpful to avoid mobs. Like at control points. You die, then go to an ankh as a ghost.

I think death should have the same effect everywhere. Lets not make this complicated.

However, what I'd like to see is a friendly duel option (sparring) where the fight is stopped by the game before anyone dies, and this could be used by players in the game where they want to fight but not to the death. Such as just in practice, or in tournaments. The duel to the death option would still exist. But the friendly duel option would also help ease players into PvP that had consequences who are tepid about it.

It's not always easy to communicate or interact with the UI when fighting, though, and things can inadvertently kill you, but still the game could record the win in case its close, which would be useful for tournaments. And in the case of easing someone into PvP the opponent can lie about his intentions. It would be no risk, no loot. What I'm suggesting is something like the fistfights in Skyrim, which are automatically stopped by the game.

Oh yea btw an enemy could theoretically kill you by pushing you off a ledge -- think knockbacks. So, for example, bears have an attack that has knockback. I'm sure there will be more things in the future like this.

this is why death should actually be something players avoid.

Not always, more often than not I fall because the game lags during jump:/ Or I am, err, testing the height I can survive.

So I guess you people dont train the Safe Fall skill?

At just level 40, Safe Fall mitigates a large amount of fall damage.
