Difficulty traveling /finding my way

During game play I seem to have no clue where anything further than my immediate surroundings is. There seems to be no greater map no travel assistance Am I missing something or is finding towns and poi"s that difficult ?

Hi there. Getting around can be daunting in this game at first. Click on the stained glass window in the upper right hand corner of your screen and look for map which is default end key. Also get friends added as soon as possible because that is our quick travel mode so far in this game. I am Majoria in game. I would be happy to help anytime and show you around a bit. That game is very sophisticated
SotA is no WoW or other MMO, where you've been taken by your hand and safely guided through the world

But the community is very helpful
