    Has anybody worked out the dimensions of the castle wall sections?
    I'm trying to work out an enclosure with the 40 pieces I'm allowed in my holdfast on graph paper.

    Thanks in advance!

    I don't know how to measure it except in reference to other objects.

    I've been measuring out the size of row lots by large rough stone pavers. A row lot is about 2.5×4 large rough stone pavers. A straight castle wall is about 1×2.5 large rough stone pavers.

    If you want to see how castle walls would fit around a holdfast, come visit Owl's Rest. I was only able to complete the front section of the wall, and only a portion of the sides. It would help if we had long straight walls that were maybe 3× the length; it would cut down the item count. Even so, I don't know if that would do the job within the decoration limit either.

    Having 40 deco items is very limited for the holdfast size. I end up using a combination of walls and row houses to create a surrounded area.

    I need to relate the wall pieces to meters so I can use graph paper during my break times at work.

    If nobody has done it already, I'll figure out the sizes this weekend and post them here.

    In Dead Horse, I have a hex shaped redoubt built using 18 pieces that surrounds a village lot with plenty of room to spare.
    I wonder if I can make an interesting shape that will accommodate a few plots.

    But I can't tinker while at work, except on paper.

    @Sir Frank,

    Well the relation I gave of large rough stone pavers is not exact, but close to exact, so you just have to calculate from there. Lengthwise it overhangs a little, so I'll go by width.

    A row lot is 10×15 meters, and the width is 2.5 of the pavers. Which means a large rough stone paver is about 4m².

    The straight wall peace is 1×2.5 large rough stone pavers. Which calculates to 4×10m.

    On the other hand, I'll try to measure it against something like a fence which has more of a straight edge so the number can be a bit more exact. Pavers are harder to piece together.

    It would make sense for the standard pieces to be 10m long. And if the corners are 5x5, then it would match the numbers Portalarium gives to surround a property. So, now to deduce the long and short gate sizes, and I think I'll be in business! A short gate should be 20m long.

    @Sir Frank,

    A long gate is about 5 of those pavers across, which would make it about 20m if those numbers are right.

    I'd have to lay out a short gate to get a better picture, but I think its about 2 pavers less, which would be around 12m. I'll get out one from storage, though. -- And I'll try to get something better to test the measurements. I don't have any corner pieces, but I have some straight walled tower segments , and they're just as long as the regular straight wall segments, even though they barely have any wall on the outside of the towers. So its possible the corner segments are 10m too.

    I did a bit of experimenting:

    [IMG]

    Has anyone else had issues using the 'T' junction parts?.......as in it creates a gap that cannot be filled?

    @Sir Frank,

    Short gate is just as long as a straight wall segment.

    @Sir Frank,

    And yes I just measured a straight wall segment against a row lot -- it seems to perfectly fit the width -- it must be 10m.

    This is my current setup,
    [IMG]

    The walls end on either side right after the second row of houses. After those front two rows, I have 3 sets of back-to-back rows with narrow lanes in between each of them.

    So, the maximum would be a square 100x100. That would be 9 straight walls (or equivalent) per side, and 4 corners, for a total of 40 pieces.
    Adding any more corners or wedges would be less enclosed area...

    These pictures indicate I probably can't make a large square in the flat area provided.

    I'm just not convinced by some of the parts atm. The 'T' sections should probably be 'L' shaped like an open ended corner.

    I just calculated the numbers to see how many wall pieces I would need to complete what I'm trying to do, encircling the holdfast. It would take at least around 104 pieces, which is more than twice the decoration limit. If we had straight pieces that were 3× as long, I could do it around 52 more or less, which is above the decoration limit, too, but would at least help cut down their footprint if the decoration limit were raised.

    I'm really wondering how high they're planning to raise it. Ideally I'd like to put in a lot of other things besides walls; trees, roads, fountains, benches, etc.

    In the end, it looks like I'll probably not use the walls, in favor of other things.
    Bummer.
    Still, I find the walls fun to play with for now.

    And the palisades gateway you see in Owl's Head?
