I noticed the Order of Vengeance PvP Guild has three towns. They seem like an awesome guild that I am considering joining actually, so I am just bring this up as a reference point. At least one town is Non-PVP. What does that mean for a PvP guild that has imposed the PvP flag on its members?

Can the PvP flagged players fight in a Non-PvP town even though they are flagged? Existing evidence suggest that the Town's Non-PvP flag does not apply between two PvP flagged players. And the Town's PvP flag really only impacts NoN-PvP players.

If that is true, then it makes no sense that a PvP guild would need a Non-PvP town?

Obviously, guilds can have players that will play Non-PvP and there is the possibility of revenue generation. But that is besides the point.

In terms for Non-PvP towns, as far as i'm aware all it means is that it wont be open PvP (a bit like current NPC towns). In saying that, there has been calls for the owners to be able to prevent PvP from occurring.

I think many people are under the impression that once you flag PVP you can do nothing else but fight for your life against the other PVP flagged players. This is not the case at all, the PVP group are actually just as social as any RP or PVE group and still do all the activities non PVP players do.

No argument at all. In fact, if it was always just fighting, I would not be interested. I am just asking the question about the game mechanics really. Moreover, I own a town myself and considering getting another. These mechanics matter in my choices.

Actually, I believe that's pure speculation. The devs have never (to my knowledge) commented on what town guards do. I asked them several times during the last dev hangout and they elected to skip over all those questions.

It's my understanding that if you have a non-pvp player owned town, then that will work just like Owl's head works now. If you want to duel, you can. If you want to fight other people that are open pvp, you can. But it's consensual always.

The leader of OOV, Duke Violation, said in one of this community hang outs that he "wasn't sure" if he wanted to live in a full pvp town because he basically wanted to have a place where he could chill out from time to time without worrying about always being a target. I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist.

So I believe the non-pvp town for OOV is an effort to be both inclusive of some people that don't like PVP, and to be a bit of a safe haven for the guild to hold events and to relax.

Now see and dont ask me where it was because i honestly dont remember. but i heard that guard are turned off right now but when they are turned on they will prevent PVP from occurring in non PVP towns... perhaps im wrong but that was my understanding.

No I don't think that's correct. I was present during the entire telethon and my memory says that they never explained what guards do. I specifically asked them about guards and pvp several times.

I think it is likely that guards may attack players.....which side they will take....who knows, maybe it will be decided on "virtues" ;)

I would like to think it won't be instant kill like UO was.

I think it will happen in large towns/cities......but villages I think should be more difficult for guards go maintain order.

I would like to actually attack guards as well :)

    Yeah, absolutely.

I know in my player owned city I'm assuming that NPC guards will be used to maintain some level of order, even when it's open pvp. Otherwise, why have guards at all?

But we'll see, the devs have really been tight lipped so I'm not sure they have any intention of committing anything right now.

I am curious about the pvp. Have you had any problems with spawn campers? Players that attack the players that have just respawned after death.

Right now from what I have seen the pvp players have been very nice to each other. Most of them have great respect for each other. As for guards in town, I think that should be up to the players that have played PVP in this game. I do enjoy watching the sparring in town.
