When I first experienced SotA's night, it was "DANG! Is this how you all see at night in RL? This is the pits!" (Grin! Yes I can and I have hiked around in the woods without a light, Ravicus. Adjusting to strong daylight is briefly painful though.)
The torch barely helped and when I tried the spells light & night vision it didn't improve the situation enough to do anything. So I cranked my screen's brightness all the way up and carefully stumbled around. Cursing again after I logged out when I was blasted by a painfully bright screen.

So I am grateful they have added in the slider and I'm glad they have improved the lighting, but yes sometimes when they are still fiddling around behind the scenes I still have to turn up my screen brightness just to see well enough to play.

I think the options gamma correction should be more tweeked to have more range.. from really Dark that "Baron Drocis" would like to what it is in LOTR at night. That way all users get what they want without having to fidle with the monitor for each game they have.

One thing that could be changed, is eyes and teeth.. in real life eyes seem to glow at night when reflecting a nearby light source. very creepy sometimes. I don't want all monsters to have glowing eyes, but if I'm holding a torch, that might make distant animals more visible, because of their reflective parts, like their eyes and teeth.. even if they are beyond the main radius of the light. Could be a fun addition.
