    Hi,
    As I am sitting here feverishly preparing for my well bought DOUBLE ADV /PRODUCER XP weeks to start, so I can ignore my family and call in to work a few days, It started to dawn on me that we will have had 3 of these double XP events so far this year. Don't get me wrong, who doesn't love double XP?
    I have discussed this on several occasions with our amazing community and gotten a whole wide range of replies. I wanted to maybe open this question up to the larger group than my circle of friends ,associates and debt collectors. What do you, the greater community at large think about all the double XP?
    Some of the things I have heard so far include, its helping new players get caught up with us Kickstarter OG Shrouders who have been running and gunning since we went persistent. I have heard that the elite group of players have used this to separate the chasm of their abilities even farther away from the casual gamer. I have heard people say that they really don't see any reason to play when its NOT double XP. I have talked to some who think that this is a dangerous and slippery slope for Portalarium to travel. That the sweet inciting aroma of hitting 100K stretch goals at the cost of the games integrity and balance might end up with SOTA being another version of WoW, where you can just buy an end game position from the store and go about your amusement park style corporate gaming experience.
    I don't know if I personally subscribe to any of these camps yet, but I am getting that electric thrill up my spine like moments before something terrible happens ( Apparently I have Spidey senses). What do you all think?
    Is double XP Super Awesome Sauce, or just another product that will eventually end up in the In Game store ? Will it bring balance and greatness? , or will bring ruin upon the promise of this amazing game?

    I cant wait to hear!

    PS, if this question has already been posted on a previous page, SORRY. I have a super short attention span and didn't look back more than 2 pages of posts.

    If it is not rare, it has less value.

    I think double XP should be reserved for outages. Outages being downtime, unplayable bugs, etc. If it reduces my ability to earn XP from normal play, than double XP for a short time to make up for it seems reasonable. Essentially, our double XP is punishment to Portalarium for taking game time from us.

    Using it as a reward for something players have control over seems backwards to me.

    Actually, I was exaggerating that. My point was they are using it as a high end stretch goal to get people to buy more from the telethons. Its essentially being sold by portalarium under the current model. Its been the high end stretch goal twice now. Once we made it, once we didnt.

    I'm not sure about any if the choices. But I think if it were possible, maybe
    1. DblXP for new players for the first 2-3 days
    2. DblXP for the first hour of gameplay for everyone
    3. maybe 1 hour of DblXP randomly throughout the day for everyone
    4. Or maybe just a random day throughout the month that is DblXP

    Double XP for the first two days for new players is pointless.

    Yeah, I agree. It might be better to just start new players with 100K XP and go from there, if the goal is to accelerate new players.

    I am not AGAINST doubleXP, but I am feeling that its happening a bit much and it might be better if it were a special occasion. Like the week before Christmas every year, or a weekend to celebrate my birthday.

    I think they should raise the XP baseline. Group play needs more XP for sure. I have been turning down groups because solo farming is more productive.

    This would be my preference also. One exception that I think would be okay is if they had some kind of short duration double xp, like maybe a buff you get from the daily oracle visit, to give a little bit of an advantage to people who don't have as much time to play and also to further encourage people to log in frequently.

    Or create a bonus xp for being offline time. This would be good for the casual gamers, that only can login 2 or 3 times a week. Giving them a slow double xp bonus for every day that they can not play this fantastic game because of RL or and work.

    What about 1 hour of double xp for 24 hours not being online. :)

    As a proponent of the double xp as part of the stretch goal I agree that it could be viewed as it being commercialized yet stretch goals help port with resources to enhance/continue with the advancement of the game. I also believe we should have permanent double xp to level 70 to assist the newer players and for the first hour of play each day a la ultima online power hour for all others in lieu of the 10k daily xp we currently have. This would help those with less play time available due to irl demands. Those are my views on double xp and its potential benefits. R/Boris/El Pirata.

    depends on how long it lasts. two weeks every month is too much, but every month would be fine for a shorter period.

    That is how they do it, or at least used to do it in WOW. I personally have like 15 accounts, I could play them almost nonstop with double XP under that model. I know guys who have upwards of 50 accounts, that would be much easier for them to accrue xp.

    If you have 15 or 50 accounts of Shroud, I guess you have the right of having double xp for the other accounts while playing one of those 50 really :)

    LOL, yeah I guess! I bought them as investments , but still log them all on and off every day for my free 10K exp and 500gold/xp

    Party or Group play should have a significant boost to XP as an incentive, but solo quests should also be given a bump for those who like to run solo and never party. In my opinion, having double XP more frequent has diminished or cheapened the game for me. I foresee that 2xp will be the norm and people will be asking for 3x xp like a crack addict looking for another fix. When will it stop? Just get out play the game and know they call it a xp grind for a reason. Again just my opinion.

    @Brewton I see your point, once double XP becomes the norm, then what is next to sell? 4x? Or they could sell you an instant Lvl 90 Boost in the add-on store. ( I am not suggesting they make the same mistakes Blizz made, thats why I havent logged on to my wow account in 5 years). I play the game because it is challenging and I am proud of the heads mounted on my wall. If it got too easy, I would probably lose interest.

    Yep and thats why I voted once a year double exp :)
    I for one, do not like the double xp as a standard. Its fun to receive this as a unexpected surprise from port. But please keep it like that.

    They should do a week end of double exp frequently (each 2 week). That way it doesnt interfer with work time too much, everyone can play.

    Considering that at a certain point (around level 120-130) you reached max (every skill just cost too much to raise its ridiculous and dead brained to go higher) and considering they are making new character slots for account AND specialisation limits, that would justify that frequent double xp earning. All new players get a chance at it, getting an account very high level (100-110) would take around 2-3 month for the common mortal which is normal time if i compare to other rpg to reach max level (if they actually kill monster in that time, if they arent then too bad, cant take their hands to go farm) . I think that would be fair play for everyone.
