I have four accounts, and I made these notes as I ran the other three through the main quest a few months ago. As always, some aspects of the game may change enough to make things different, but the basic flow of the quest should be rather stable by now. No instructions are given for the starting areas, but you should have already acquired the first item for one quest line from your starting area.

Few directions have been given on how to get to various places. Some locations can be found on your compass. Point the mouse cursor over the compass icons to find out which is which. Some hard to find locations will have coordinates given that match the /loc and /loctrack commands.

Note that nothing in an area with the word "Outskirts" in its name has anything to do with finishing the main quest! You do get some nice wall banners for completing those areas, but they are entirely side quests.

You must appropriately level and skill up your character before you can complete some parts of these quests. Even then, it took me about 16 hours straight the last time I ran through it on an already leveled character. However, I was able to finish with a character around level 55 at the end after all the big XP rewards from completing each quest line, so you can usually start with an adventurer level in the upper 40s. (Point your mouse cursor over your name in the character sheet window to see your adventurer level.)

I am also including a few side quests that may be troublesome to do later, as well as keywords that grant you emotes, since you can no longer get some of them later because the NPC refuses to talk to you at all anymore.

Talk to Edvard, keywords "a favor to ask of you", "prophecy"
Talk to Stanley (Soltown Guard Captain), keywords "courier", "dangerous line of inquiry"
    Talk to Cugel, keyword "stanley"
Talk to Siranto, keywords "divided", "closer at hand"
Talk to Pintar (Minister), keyword "defeated"
Talk to Khasi, keywords "love" (emote), "husband", "dividing"
Talk to Damai (Advisor to Khasi), keywords "harmony" (emote), "dance" (emote), "lead" (emote)
talk to Kardan Marbane, kwyword "ask"
talk to Min Liang Tan (Official), keywords "keystone", "writ"
Talk to Min Liang Tan, keyword "new age", then fight him
NOTE: if he doesn't give you encouragement messages as you go up, you probably didn't get the quest properly, or you aren't in the solo quest version of the area. You must not be in a party!
    Talk to Khasi and Siranto
Talk to Samael, keywords "accept", "love"
Necropolis Barrens: talk to Samael at entrance to Necropolis, keyword "love"
The Necropolis: talk to Samael to get the summoning item, then put it on your utility bar - note that you will have to "Show quest items" on your inventory window
Talk to Nyx (Undead Lord of Necropolis), keyword "anapa"
Talk to Thanatos (Undead Lord of Necropolis), keywords "gift", "styx"
Go down the hole, take the exit to Midras Ruins at the end
Bring up the map ('M' key) and look for the marker "Crypt of the Avatar". It is a hatch in the gorund floor of a building at (122.0, 73.2, 8.0)
    Talk to Samael, keyword "ready"
Reapply the "Summon Samael" item to your utility bar
Talk to Miles Shepherd (Guardian of Midras), keywords "titans", "blade", "obsidian war", "Drachvald", "Miracle", "malice"
Talk to Eris (Warmaiden of Mithras)
Talk to Miles Shepherd, keyword "Oracle", "find something"
Go down to the bottom, all the way to the back, then turn left into the church-like area, kill the Obsidian Construct, bring the report back to Eris
Talk to Samael, keywords "Muriel", "keepsake"
Talk to Lauran Graff (Wealthy Merchant), keyword "ring"
Talk to Samael, give ring, keywords "malice", "problem"
    Talk to Yama, keyword "dead"
Talk to Charon (Ferryman), keyword "Travel to Malice"
    Enter the nearby cave
Talk to Samael, keywords "Muriel", "let her go", "leave"
Note that you may now have two "Summon Samael" items in your inventory, but only one works
You need 3 gems to break the barrier, one is on the skeleton in front of the barrier
One is on a skeleton in front of the creamatorium
One is on a skeleton sitting in a chair upstairs near a lich
At the next barrier, talk to Samael
Talk to Anapa, keywords "heart", "undead"
Talk to Sequanna, keyword "heart of sorrow"
Talk to Samael, keyword "ring", "ready"
Talk to Sequanna, give ring, keyword "next steps"
At this point you should get a big XP reward.
    Exit through warp
Talk to Robert Villines ("Official"), keyword "dagger"
Make sure that "Skip converstaiton with merchants" is disabled!
Talk to Kyle Behrand (blacksmith), keywords "Boreas", "Vertas"
Talk to Kiakis ("Vertas Traveller"), keywords "book", "bonesteel"
Talk to Jenna Karttunen ("Innkeeper"), keyword "bonesteel"
Talk to Dion ("Wounded Faun"), keywords "Artifice", "Blackblade Pass", "Perri" ("leg" and "satyr" for emotes)
Talk to Avitas ("Harbormaster"), keywords "passage", "something for you" ("human" for emote)
Talk to Lady Ransom ("Traveller") in the inn for a way around the Etceter Crag Mines quest at the cost of some Truth virtue.
Note that this should be a solo-only instance. You should not be in a party.
Find "black iron ore" on the Bandit Chief
Give black iron ore to Avitas
Talk to Captain Steel ("Ship Captain"), keyword "passage"
Talk to Chancellor Notus ("Elf Official"), keyword (uncertain)
    Go into the yellow gateway.
Get the key from the chest in each of the three rooms
Use the keys on the south door
Watch out for the greenish trap tile on front of the kiddy cage
Go through lighted arch and maze
Talk to Notus, important keyword "Boreus"
    Go through next door
Get bonesteel crown from small table
Go through next door and lighted arch
Talk to Hephaestus ("Kobold Blacksmith"), important keyword "destiny"
Go through middle archway and lighted arch
    Talk to Kiakis, keyword "Notus"
Talk to Perri ("Curious Faun"), keywords "homily" (give book), "stronger together"/"fight"/"free"
Go back and talk to Hephaestus, keyword "destiny"
At this point (or maybe a previous step) you should get a big XP reward.
Go back to the library, then around to the other exit (southwest)
Exit to Novia when you're done exploring
Talk to Brigid ("Knight-Captain"), keyword "Gawain", give amulet, keyword "make them hear"
Talk to Khary ("Ferryman"), keywords "official business", "Amulet for Grannus", "passage", "yes"
Talk to Aklir Vikison or Halvdi Hamison ("Knight of Norgard"), keyword "aid"
Note that this is a solo-only instance. You should not be in a party.
talk to Kormag ("Kobold Commander"), keyword "imprisoned"
fight the waves of kobolds, this is not easy for a mage or lower levels
If you can't win the fight, you might be able to get the key at the cost of some Courage. Who has the key and how do you think you can get it?
This fight is somewhat easier if you have a pet. A pet that requires skill level 29 will help a lot.
If you need a short break from the fight, stand on top of the stones.
If you can get the skirmishers or the monkey to attack the kobold guards by accident, they will kill it for you!
    Talk to Lord Ferig ("Lord")
Talk to Baldwin ("Knight of Norgard"), keyword "permission"
Talk to Grannus ("King of Norgard"), keyword "amulet", give Brigid's amulet, keyword "activate", keyword "officer"
    Talk to Mara, keyword "ready"
Follow Mara, then talk to her, keywords "help", "stop him", get Royal Warrant
Talk to Lord Ferig, keyword "warrant", give warrant
Talk to Essen, keyword "ready", then follow
Talk to Essen, keywords "night of the crystal blades", "fourth baton", "request", receive Royal Norgard Writ of Passage and Baton Headpiece
    Give writ to gatekeeper
Talk to Demig, keyword "Essen", give baton headpiece
Go to Korabar's keep in NE, talk to Korabar, keywords "Demig", "time for him to speak", "mark", give Baton Headpiece
Talk to Korabar, keywords "plan", "time", "go now"
Talk to Mara, keywords "I have news of Demig", "come forth"
Talk to Essen, keywords "Korabar wants peace!", "forth baton", "arrived"
Talk to Ferig, keyword "stand back"
Talk to Grannus, keywords "Mara has betrayed Norgard.", "sceptre", "destiny"
At this point you should get a big XP reward.
Note that many parts go through PvP-only areas. There are ways around for all of them, however nobody bothers to camp them to kill other players, and you are in for only a short amount of time. This guide only uses the bypass routes when the main route through the PvP ruins area is the more difficult way.
Also note that all parts of this path except for the final assembly can be completed in a party in open mode, but Hilt has the option for a solo mode.
Go to large oracle temple near the castle
Talk to Oracle, first keywords through to "created to do"
    Page of Spirituality and Corporeality
Go to castle, go to library, get sheet music, sit at piano, play sheet music, secret door will open, page is in a chest
    Page of Honor and Disgrace
Go into the town, then turn left. You should pass a big purple flower on the left. Continue until you find the elevator.
Get on the elevator. At the top of it, change to the next elevator. Watch out for the flamethrowers on the cliff here. The center of the far side of the elevator might work.
At the top, go left and go around the wall.
In the keep, look for the bookshelf on the first floor on the left. A book opens it.
The door to Kas Vault is behind the bookshelf.
    Page of Valor and Qualm
Find the door using the compass marker. The building has a pit just inside the entrance, the door is in the pit. Watch out for the traps.
    Page of Justice and Malfeasance
Find the door using the compass marker
    Page of Compassion and Cruelty
Go to the basement level, you will need to break a wall along the way
Take the tunnel to Rhun Vault
    Page of Honesty and Deceit
Find the door using the compass marker
    Page of Sacrifice and Narcisissm
Find the door using the compass marker. Note that this is not the same door as from the Love path.
Page of Humility and Pride: wait until you get the Vermillion Lens
    Xanthous Lens
You need to turn on shadows in your video settings
The elevator is near the skeletons at the east exit, the monolith is the switch. If the switch isn't working, you may need to switch to party mode.
Watch out for the air elementals, they can gust you off of the bridges
South of the statue is a good place to wait without air elementals bothering you
You can only use the ankh statue when the big statue's shadow is over it.
This happens twice an hour, at about 45 seconds after the half hour.
    Cerulean Lens
    Say "nothing" to the monk
Set the cubes to have the same layout
Take the right gap, then go down into the hole
Go through the back wall, then up the vine on the other end
Do not bother with the chests, they are all mimics
Note that the answers to most of the puzzles are in books in the area you get sent when you fail a puzzle.
At the deep pit, fall to the west half, there is water down there
Click on the left wall where it says ANNE
Chess puzzles: east pawn, south rook, northwest bishop (all white pieces)
Answer three riddles from the dragon
    Cow
    Fire
    Snail
    Memory
    Sleep
    Nothing
    Footsteps
    School
    Trouble
    Tomorrow
    Reflection
    History
The ankh statue is at the top of the hill. Note that if you wait too long, an invisible wall will close the path along the hill, and you will have to answer riddles again.
    Vermillion Lens
Bring some Potions of Wolf Speed, these last 10 minutes, which should be more than enough if you make no big mistakes. Combining with Dash or Sprint will help too. Having Silent Movement is highly recommended.
Use a Potion of Wolf Speed, then run through the first and second open gates before they close. Rest a moment, cast Silent Movement, and make your way to the next doors. Kick them open. If the first gate is closed, do not go in. You may want to switch to private mode, because that means someone else is in the area and could mess you up.
Now you have to cross the poison pond. If you can make it on the logs alone, great. If you fall, run to the land areas on the right, and then heal like crazy. You can safely reach the end from the farther land area.
Now proceed to the next open gates, then run through them and the next open gates. Dash alone is enough to make it through.
Re-cast Silent Movement, then make your way around, first to the right, then in front of the second wall, then up on to the left corner of the far wall.
Re-cast Silent Movement again and follow the far left wall to the far left corner.
Go through the trap door in the floor of the corner tower, you should see a skeleton glowing blue. Search the skeleton and you will find...
...just a shard of the lens, plus a note about how it got broken
(The statue was a red herring that would have put you amongst strong enemies.)
The second lens shard is in a pool guarded by a satyr, the Page of Humility and Pride is in a chest in the troll room nearby
This will take a while, you should plan for an hour or two just in case.
Activate the statues in the proper order. You can find the combination by trial and error, but it hurts when you make a mistake.
The puzzle does not reset from being left idle, so you can hit one at a time and run away between them
Moon Life Sun Air Death Water Fire Earth
If you have to get away from aggro, the diagonal pillar is good for this
First, you need to flip the lever to the south east, this pulls out a platform so you can hit the south west switch
The central east platform goes up, now you need to flip the south east platform to get the bricks back so you can jump up
Jump up the center east pillar and flip the center switch
Go back to flip the south east switch again
Now you can jump across on the north pillars
You have to activate statues up one at a time, each reveals the next statue
The first statue is in front of the south (higher) gazebo
The fourth statue is on the east shore of the lava river
When you get to the far side of the lava river, don't forget to flip that last statue!
Once you get the last statue, you will need to go back around to the east shore, where you will find the last platforms to the southwest
Look for the hatch on a small island. The third lens shard is in a chest.
Bring some coal. You need at least 5, but bring more just in case.
Note that if you go in solo, you will be in a special quest-only version of this area. The important difference is that monsters do not respawn, so you can take your time.
    DO NOT FORGET THE COAL
In the chapel room at the bottom, there is a brick switch along the left wall to open a secret door
In the final room, you stand in the center of the forge to activate it
The Confluence Chamber is at the base of a waterfall in the center area
Follow the quest marker on your compass. The door is hidden by some vines.
    Enter The Confluence Chamber
    Activate the podium
Give it the eight pages and the three lenses all at once
Go back to the Oracle Temple and talk to the Oracle
Make sure you end the conversation by clicking on "goodbye". Just pressing the ESC key may not trigger the completion.
After the final conversation with the Oracle, you will see many words appear on your screen. Go outside to the little Oracle temple and you should be able to claim your shroud, consumables for the Dread Artifacts, and a free Player Owned Town Row Lot Deed.

Amazing! This is going to help a lot of people... a lot!

And I know /loc prints out your coordinates, what does /loctrack do?

Also, if I’m recalling correctly, for the Lenses, you MUST do the Grannus Colossus first. I believe they made that change.

I can see no reason why the Vermillion lens in Grannus has to be before the other two lenses, but I can see a story reason why it needs to be done before (spoiler). And I did make a point to have the Desolis page deferred until then so you don't have to go there twice.

Lol @Elwyn, I thought terse meant succinct or brief!? ;)

All joking aside this is nothing less than awesome and will be a great primer for new and old players alike, myself included!

Great work here my friend! :D

@Elwyn does "Make sure that "Skip converstaiton with merchants" is disabled!" mean checked or unchecked?

It means unchecked because you will want to speak to some of those merchants due to quest dialogue requirements. If you check the box, it will skip the conversations.

/loctrack will put your current coordinates on the screen and will update realtime as you run around. This saves you from having to type the /loc command over and over to check where you are.

It's pretty terse for something that took me a 16-hour marathon to run through it the last time. It probably took me 3 hours just to make that spoiler-ception post from my notes.

Yes, if you try to find the other two pieces first, they will not be there and no compass clues either.

You can get 10 for 300 gold around Resolute.

I’ve seen them cheeper though. That’s less than the cost of the actual ingredients. And damage to your tools etc....

    EDIT: That’s for Online

Thanks for posting this. I've been contemplating working on the quests soon. I thought I read somewhere that one quest line is easier than the other two. I ALSO read that you should work all three because the end of each quest is too difficult for a beginner. While I've been around a while, I am definitely a beginner when it comes to the quests. I haven't even figured out the best way for me to fight. I want to be a full mage but I suspect that will be nearly impossible to kill everything without dying (I'm a GM in dyng- as in dead, not dying clothes).
