Full loot pvp. I think our playerbase can handle something that runescape players can cope with. : ) I'm working on my clickbate forum titles, whatcha think? Does it feel like a random moongate near brit bank?
No thanks! That is way too limiting to the pvp user base. I would much rather a system where players drop game generated loot that doesn't come from their inventories at all.
Got me Lost me The amount of complaints I've seen in the forums and the amount of players who no longer flag for PvP due to "the consequences" is quite telling.
I've been playing Darkfall: Rise of Agon a bit lately. That is a game where full-loot PvP works. Here, NO, IT WON'T WORK. Forget about what you WANT. Open loot PvP won't work here. Not at least without a COMPLETE overhaul of the crafting system (*hears crafters readying their pitchforks*). Why? Simple, here there is a huge element of randomness with high-end gear. Sheesh, I can barely find any +10 or above gear for sale (cloth). There, the crafting has SOME randomness, but the whole point is that gear is not that special in Darkfall. So losing it won't mean much. The game also encourages a lot of banking, so that if you lose stuff in a PvP fight, people regularly say "It's not yours if it ain't in the bank." We can't possibly have that here. Aside from the fact that a large segment of the population won't go for it, we cannot have open loot PvP in SotA without MAJOR refactoring. And that would just slow us down, people! Also, open loot PvP works better in an open world game. These posts tend to be infantile in nature, simply because you cannot expect this game to become what YOU want. Here is a PRO-TIP: they know what they are doing until the end of the year. And it ain't open loot PvP.
@Magnus Zarwaddim I agree with you, that it wont work when it takes about 1 hour to craft a sword. (from refine to final enchant/mw)
agree on the full loot part also agree that it currently does not work (read not impossible) did however not feel like a random moongate, more like a accidental banner click I can imagine Man was it fun to jump in head first through moongates tho... miss those days
YES! THIS ^^^ Couldn't be said any better. I would actually support a 3rd flag for people that want full lootz, "PvP Hardcore". You die, you lose it all.
I'm new and I need some clarification of existing systems. IF I am not flagged for PvP, am I still gankable in PvP zones? Basically as long as I can experience the full game outside of true designated PvP areas (like say an Arena/Colosseum), the happier I will be. IF a PvP zone simply means entering at your own peril... well... especially with the gear/stat difference between characters JUST qualifying to enter an area vs old hands... misery. Pure misery. Now if it's the current ransom system, I'm still going to avoid areas where I could be ganked like the plague (Just doesn't float my boat, to each their own), BUT if something was there that I wanted/needed I might AT LEAST consider countermeasures and giving it a try. The moment anything becomes full loot I've lost all interest. What's the point of playing and working towards gear if *poof* ALL GONE? How could your gear possibly have any meaning/true worth like this? I've yet to have anyone give me a good answer to that question.
correct. When someone who is not flagged tries to enter a PVP area they will get a warning pop-up and if they enter they are forced into multiplayer and temporarily flagged for PVP while in the scene. All ruins and shardfalls are PVP areas for instance. Note though that PVP areas are easy to avoid, and even if you do want to enter one the likelyhood of there actually being someone else is rather slim with the current population. Which is exactly the reasoning why this game has consensual pvp. In full loot pvp games you need the gear to be leaning towards expendible/replacable.
if was ever a dead horse topic . . . . but No TY, this is not needed. Looting in general needs completion and PvP could become selective but not full
