Tor.com just posted an excerpt from The Sword of Midras containing the first two chapters of the book. I havn't gone through it all to compare to the PDf version, but one piece to note is that while the publisher's summary (printed at the top of the excerpt) calls the main character Aren Bendis, the text itself is still Aren Bennis.

Excited about the book and the sequels. I'm hoping the signed hard copies in the pledge rewards are the the Sword of Midras. Too bad we can't upgrade and get the hardback.

Good catch on the name, and nice plug for the game. Preach the word!

I didn't even know this was a thing. Oops. Guess I've not been paying attention.

The excerpt cleared up another item that was in question from the original. Lieutenant Malik is gone, and is the same Nik Halik that we see later in the book. Makes it more consistent, and gets rid of a confusing name similarity. Also lots of line edits, so I'm happy to see how clean the new book will be!

We don't see any of the art here; the new cover is a variation of the Ruins of Alabastia painting, but I don't see the original Blade of the Avatar symbol anywhere. Hopefully it exists, because they describe it in the Midras section but having a visual is important. Also, I'm hoping Denis Loubet's chapter images survived the transition.

Wonder if I've already paid for that book or not through my pledge? :)

Also, if you look at the larger version of the book cover (which is awesome, btw) it appears that is actually a crumbling building. I wonder where the door is?

June 21st release date. Why @dallas, @Berek are you guys not telling everyone to pre-order already?

The illustrations from Denis survived the makeover...you can see them here on Amazon.

@RichardGarriott How can I get Rats Nest to be part of future maps and lore?

I wonder who won the copy. Still waiting on my audio book to come out later this week.
