    I left highvale before completing (Find word of nena's charges) quest and can't return to the starting version of the highvale zone to complete so it is stuck in my journal.

    I put in a special gimmick in the "after" version of Highvale that should clear your task if you enter the fort/village within that scene. Could you go into the Highvale scene, walk into the middle of the fort, and check to see if your task has cleared?
