Forum structure changes

I agree 100% with this and feel this is one of the most pressing issues with the forum. That and some kind of "New Player" forum. I think these two issues would make a HUGE impact on the amount of time devs spend on duplicate content and also for new players looking to get their feet wet, but perhaps have a hard time searching through all the crap posted daily. Please consider both of these @Berek, doing a great job so far!

 

Good ideas, the QA forum organization will be discussed with Rhys to get his second opinion, but I definitely love the New Player forum idea!

 

Updated the marketplace forum 'The Novian Collectors and Sellers Shop' to the title 'Collector's Shop for Non-Pledge Items'

The base Marketplace is for pledge related exchanges, the above is for non-pledge based exchanges, and then of course the housing sub-forum is available due to that being a very focused topic on its own.

 

What does non-pledge items mean exactly? The main forum includes many posts for non-pledge items right now.

I think the most useful division (right now) in the marketplace would be an area to advertise in-game trades for gold. Most people buying or selling a pledge are not looking for ore.

I agree, I think having a forum that is clearly about "in game trading" of resources, gold, advertising in game vendor ect would be helpful an the title "Collector's Shop for Non-Pledge Items" is VERY confusing.

When you think about a marketplace forum there are basically two major elements:
1. Sale & advertisement of accounts, pledges and pledge related items.
2. Sale & advertisement of in-game items such as ore, gold, weapons, etc.

I have seen quite a few people posting about in-game vendors and trades and they always seem to have no idea where a post like that should fit in.

 

Don't forget add-on store items in 1.

These changes are great. Thanks for everything you've been doing.

 

Additional changes, and the last for this week:

1 - Moved the 'New Player Welcome' section to the top level forum by official updates/news

2 - Moved 'The Kingdoms of the Old' Ultima nostalgic section to within 'The Fire Lotus Tavern' under 'Game Room'

3 - Moved the 'General Discussion' to the top level of the forums, essentially replacing what used to be the 'Town Hall'.

 

Berek, would this be an appropriate place to post "Wish List" modifications to existing items?

For example, I'd like to have the Stage, Stage Stairs, and Bleachers already available in game able to be placed as POT Deco items outside the bounds of a lot.

 

Hmm, good question. I would say yes... what would cross the line for this section would be balance discussions. That's not a new wishlist request but purely a change .

In "Fire Lotus Tavern", the Sub-Forum "The Game Room" and the Sub-Sub Forum "The Kingdoms of Old" do not fit the concept of their master forum "Fire Lotus Tavern" which is:

They both are for discussion about other video games in a non-lore/story/RP fashion. Others might not agree, but I feel both would be better suited as sub-forums for General Discussion.

Perhaps also, in "Guild & Town Hall", move "The Bards of Poets' Circle" to "Fire Lotus Tavern" as a sub-forum, and change the description of "Fire Lotus Tavern" to include music such as the following:

Just some thoughts. Likely, I will be wiping tomatoes from my face in a few moments (cringes as he hits "Post Reply" and hides under his table in Fire Lotus Tavern.)

Hehe, it's a good suggestion, but I think we'll leave those where they stand. The idea of Fire Lotus Tavern is a good one, and can be tweaked. It's more of a "where does everything lore/other games/" go.
