Founder bows

Founder bows should do at least the same amount of damage as long bows. As it is, they're not much of a reward.

 

Same for the armor been this way FOREVER, look at Augmented Armor? no sense AT ALL in repairing when it is cheaper to just scrap the broken piece and buy a new one.

Pledge items have never been there to be the Best they just give you the option to have "Nice" stuff from the start

So in that sense they are a HIUGE reward as players without them start with NOTHING but the one from the quest "IF" they pick the one that goes with their template :-(

 

The founder bows are about the same as the bridge defender's bow. It's not even a "nice" starting weapon. A "nice" starting bow would be at least the equivalent of the longbow that you can buy at any NPC weapon vendor.

 

When you start you don't have any money, so it is a Starting bow, "" where to show sarcasm.

 

If everything is as good as a longbow, what is the point of a shortbow? And the NPC weapons will eventually go away in favor of crafted ones, as far as I know, so it won't be something you can just skip to.

 

One might say that longbow vs. short bow vs. crossbow....no difference needed, it is simply aesthetics in game. But I think there is an opportunity to differentiate these weapons, with crossbow having a slower attack time but hitting heavier, longbows perhaps having a lower range while short bows are faster to fire, etc. etc. Not sure how this would all work out with auto-attach and free attacks though. Therein seems to be the challenge.

 

Even the most basic crafted longbow is better than the ones you can buy, so there's no point in removing them from the NPC vendors.

 

for now. Things will be taken off of the NPC vendors slowly later on as player made items take over.

 

I like this idea. Not looking forward to the cost and time needed to create a crossbow bolt though.

 

If founder bows were good they would be the PvP bow of choice as you can't loose a pledge reward.

 

It used to be that armor was the same. Founder armor was worse than NPC armor. However in r23 Chris and team did some overhaul on all of the armor including NPC armor.
Now the starting armor is as good as NPC basic.

Expect the same for starting weapons when they do the same for weapons.

 

Wait, so you're saying that they shouldn't be as good as a regular longbow, which you get as loot on skeleton archers, because then your PvP opponent wouldn't be able to take it?!

 

That's pretty much the argument.
But honestly I see it the way you see it.
