Not sure if this is the right spot for this but here goes anyway.

I have a very long flight coming up and am looking for some advice on a game to help get me through it. My laptop is a mac and pretty old so my choices are somewhat limited. Currently, I'm thinking about Baldur's Gate Enhanced edition, Civilization IV, or Dragon Age II. I need to double check the specs of my laptop to make sure I can even run Dragon Age though.

I played the original Baldur's Gate years ago on my PC but never finished it and I played and completed Dragon Age 1. I've never played any of the Civilization games.

    Any advice?

Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle are fun for me right up until I get stuck and want to whip my computer across the room...not sure how that'd go over on an airplane.

get a 3ds and Bravely Default! :D (plays like a classic final fantasy with some new twists).

Old PC games that are mac compatible? Blizzard games come to mind, starcraft, diablo 2... if it can handle it starcraft 2, diablo 3.

Definitely wanted to check this out but I think it's only for PC on GOG and I deleted my Boot Camp partition since I needed the hard drive space. I'm not going to have the time to dig out my Windows cd's and set that up again.

Starcraft is kind of like Command and Conquer but sci-fi correct?

Oh my... sort of. essentially yes, build your base, build your troops attack, but there are stories, characters, scenarios unlike what command and conquer has. It's a deeper more involved story/game, in my opinion. I liked it a lot better than command and conquer.

It might be a difficult game to play without a mouse. but you can turn the speed way down low when you need to for combat and things.

Starcraft 1&2 are near or possibly the top of my list for best PC games ever.

I believe you can play it natively on Mac with GemRB, an open source replacement engine for the Infinity Engine games.

Looking for Mac downloads now. I've played games like Dune 2 and Command and Conquer and enjoyed those so maybe this is the way to go. I'll be on a plane for like 25 hours so I'm going to need something.

Civ is always good, or any other Infinity Engine games (like Torment).
I wouldn't suggest an RTS because they get doggedly repetitive after 25 hours.
Maybe the Might and Magic series (start with 3)?

    Ultima 1 - 8 are available through gog.com for the Mac. :)

    U9 is not. :(

My suggestion on the games you mentioned would be Baldur's Gate.

I was just poking around on GOG. Considering the Ultima 4-6 Pack as I've never played those. I finished all the later Ultimas already. Also, I guess it would be downright irresponsible to not download Savage Empire and Martian Dreams as free options.

Also, Witcher and Divine Divinity caught my eye. Any thoughts on those? Are they both more action RPG's? I'm not so good with those usually.

Hmm, another action adventure that nobody seems to talk about is titan quest. Really well made game with little deep thinking required but lots of instant gratification.

Rpgs could be might and magic x or any of the classics.

Laptops i find are awful to play most wasd controlled first persons.

Lots of good old DOS games that have replay value. Among RPGs, besides the Ultimas, there's Darklands and Wizard's Crown. You also have Bard's Tale and Might & Magic, but these are more simple hack & slash dungeon crawls. Among strategy games, besides Civilization, you have Colonization, Railroad Tycoon, Pirates, Covert Action. Sid Meier created a lot of good games. Adventure games, Monkey Island and Loom, and anything from LucasArts. The Indiana Jones games are good, too, but not as original. God games like Populous. Puzzle games like Lemmings. Action games like the Prince of Persia series.
