General NVIDIA driver issue

    Figured I'd share this here as its happened to me multiple times.
    With the latest NVIDIA drivers there is seemingly an issue when switching between games or even randomly where DirectX just stops working.
    With SotA you can log in and it's seemingly a slideshow, other games (Project Gorgon in my case) it immediately gives a DirectX error and doesn't allow the game to launch.
    The only solution I've found at the moment is rebooting your machine, so if anyone is having a similar issue, this may be it.

    Same issue here as well with the latest driver.

    Latest is not always greatest.
    Just roll back to 3 releases back nvidia drivers?

    Yeah Nvidia messed the last one up.
    There is a hotfix on their page for it.
    No idea why the hotfix isn't distibuted through the Nvidia center.

    I just rolled back my driver and this worked. With the latest NVIDIA driver I wasn't even able to play the game, it caused my GPU to hit 100% all but freezing the game for me. Plus, I am wary of the hotfix, since in the fine print it lists a few areas that it could cause further conflicts. Since rolling back worked for me, I would suggest folks try this first.

    The hotfix solves the GPU = 100% issue.

    It does not solve the issue of the machine cold booting if shadows are enabled.
