This release has given a great opportunity to test progression as well as the glyph combat system. I have found it particularly interesting when it comes down to choice and where to spend points. I know that the combat system is currently very unbalanced and certainly mages need a lot of attention along with some of the types of armour.

I like the fact that as you level, your deck size increase.....however it saddens me that I have no control over the deck size. Why do we need control over this? Well as the deck size increase so does the number of slugs and in order to keep the slug number down you have to fill the deck with active skills. As you approach higher levels the chances are you have all the active skills you want and probably maxed out with 5 of each, what you probably want to do is focus on more of the innate skills to increase power etc. The result is that you end up with a deck of slugs.

This then calls into question why it isn't better at higher levels just to work with a fixed bar........so I tested it and my results are below. (btw in my builds I use leather armour as I won't use plate on principle).

    Glyph Build

    Fixed Build

    Bludgeon (51 Points)
    - 1 x Crushing Blow
    - 1 x Knockback
    - 5 x Stunner (innate)
    - 1 x Knockdown
    - 5 x Crusher (innate)

    Light Armor (19 points)
    - 1 x Dodge
    - 3 x Swiftness (innate)
    - 3 x Acrobatics (innate)

    Tactics (115 Points)
    - 10 x Healthy (innate)
    - 20 x Train Dexterity (innate)
    - 20 x Train Strength (innate)

    Earth (46 Points)

    Focus (82 Points)
    - 10 x Heightened Awareness (innate)
    - 5 x Higher Consciousness (innate)
    - 22 x Train Intelligence (innate)

    Life (23 points)
    1 x Healing Touch
    1 x Healing Ray
    5 x Life Power (innate)

    Sun
    1 x Light
    1 x Searing Ray

So what is the result of changing to a fixed glyph build?

    Attack Skill +8
    Current Focus +15
    Current Health +4
    Damage Avoidance +2
    Damage Resistance +2
    Fire Damage +0.05
    Fire Time +0.1
    Focus +15
    Health +4
    Intelligence +6
    Strength +2
Maximum Locked Glyphs (ignored because all locked)
    Maximum hand Size +1

So in terms of stats, it is a better build. In terms of glyphs, I now have no slugs and have every skill I want available at any time. The only negative is that it costs more focus to use a skill, but to be honest I haven't really noticed it being a limiting factor on the field.

So my current view is that there needs to be some thought over how the glyph system should work at higher levels.

    My current thoughts are:
    - Create an deck size option so you can choose the size of your deck as you level, 20, 25, 30 etc.
    - Have the skills/spells become more powerful the more points you spend in them (this could already be the case but I haven't noticed any difference).

is there a link to a thread or video that explains all this? im pretty new to anything combat, i reset my original skills, and the bottom line is i cant figure out for the life of me how to build a deck and get any active skills to use. im just running around doing basic/static attack with my bludgeon weapon now, and cant get a single skill hotkeyed.

Nice example, well as I've said it was fun for me in the long run to make it work. Of course I was playing strictly PVE with this build and I couldn't figure out how to show the stats part that you had up, but here is an example of my shoddy but 'let me survive' build lol. So keep up the great feedback, but please keep if fun to make it work. I was loving that part. You won't necessarily want to copy my build but I'm just making a point also.
