I'm ok with having discrete quests in what is otherwise a sand box.

Personally the very quest itself was quite disappointing. Farming/Gathering quests are boring, its the same thing ive been doing in MMOs for a long, long time. Certainly not what I hoped to see in SotA.

Here's hoping that gathering quests are the exception, rather than the rule. "Go forth and get me a bunch of wolf skins" is Everquest, not Ultima.

Thanks for your input Weins. I am in full agreement with you, and support your 'Play The Game' mantra! I know the quest attempted to make it sound like the material was something normally skipped, but it failed to keep away from feeling contrived - a made up item specifically for the quest, not a part of a real living, dynamic world. If the game stoops to breaking immersive gameplay and ignoring the importance of the player-driven economy to force people to 'play correctly', it's gone too far. In a Pre-Alpha-only quest, it's fine to do to get the amount of traffic needed to test stuff. I hope that explains my reasoning better for you.

Now... If the quest had been used to introduce a new permanent crafting resource, that would have been an excellent use of the release tour.

Perhaps that is something that could be done once crafting development ramps up again. :)

I didn't like this hat quest. I felt like I was back in WoW grinding for stuff for questing.
