I decided to publish a few books in the game (something I used to do constantly in UO). And when I make a .txt file, it never imports it. Instead, it gives it a bunch of gibberish for the text (about one line of garbage) and then none of the text of the .txt file.

What am I doing wrong? I've saved the file as .txt, and I've saved it as every other format I can think of, but nothing seems to work. I end up having to type the whole manuscript in order to get it completed.

I haven't had any success in that. I try to paste what I've copied and nothing happens.

Have you an example text file and resulting book you can show?

It sounds to me that you are using something like MS word and giving it .txt extension but not saving it as just text, when you do the save as make sure the TYPE is text not just the extension.

    Copy/paste it into Notepad.
The result will be pure text which is what is needed.

Hi ya sarbonn. If you have not tried it already, Frostll's suggestion seems like it should work since it will strip out everything except the character codes.
Paste your content into notepad, and then save it from notepad to a .txt file.
    Hopefully that will work.
Also, if you have not seen this helpful post by @Vyrin (Guide to Writing and Publishing in Shroud of the Avatar), its worth a read for publishers!

Friend me in game @sarbonn. (Same name in gmae) I will work with you until we get it.

Most likely you are not really saving it as a pure text file. Like Frostil said, use a pure text editor like Notepad and that should do the trick.

I'll try the notepad suggestion. Thanks all. Hopefully, I'll be able to do this in the next day or so. Been receiving a lot of aggro from the real world which refuses to allow me to play the game full time.

Real world really sucks. Which is why my next 6 days are planned vacationing in Novia.

I think lace hit the nail on the head. It is partly why I asked if you could show one of your text files. Most other things don’t actually hold text. They have fancy format
