Its horrible when trying to antipate attacks on mob animations, then you get that stuttering crap and stomped anyway.
Yes hitching is annoying. I hope we figure it out soon. Sometimes during a big group fight like with the dragon, I feel like my graphics card is going to explode and I have the Nvidia 1060 of course and a newer fully powerful computer. *sighs*.
On the Q4 roadmap I was disappointed to see the hitching not to be worked on until December R49 https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/q4-2017-schedule-update.100684/ Frame Rate Increase: Performance workwill shift towards improving framerate and reducing hitching during gameplay. Faster load times are great and all, but once you load into the zone your good. With hitching even being loaded into the zone it gets worse the longer you play.
I made the mistake of switching decks while crossing one of the bridges in Highvale Outskirts. Big hitch, camera spins and I fall to my death.
Hitching/stuttering in r46 is the worst it's been for me. It's crazy. I've gotten the audio stuttering standing outside my house in a town with no other people there but me just talking in my guild chat. If I go out after mobs it's a guaranteed lagfest. Serious bummer
Performance has never been great. I just tested to see what it was like - Ran through Central Brittany and my highest FPS was 35 for a split second. Low was 12. It generally hovers in the low 20s/upper teens. Specs - 3770k@4.6GHz 32 GB RAM EVGA GTX1080 SC ACX 2560x1440 It's installed to the SSD as well.
Hitching and stuttering I meant to say. I also play Sota on an SSD. I cannot imagine what it is like with out it. Before I got my new computer I was struggling much more. My graphics card was really getting hot and I had some corruption effects when that happened. That system was an alien x51 and an I-3. Now I have an I-7 and SSD with these issues. Hopefully it will get sorted out soon.
yep definitely not client side horse power.. i7 7700 4.20Ghz w 16G ram, 1070 graphics here... game on ssd and os on an EVO.
I have to quit the game and reload it from scratch every few scene loads. If i know I’m gonna be on a particular scene for a while, I usually enter it, then quit and reload to start fresh
It's the game music hitching that really gets bad after a scene load or 2. Luckily, the in-game radio doesn't do that- so I've been using my portable aether vibration amplifier more often..
This is definitive a issue that need's to be solved sooner or later, I think it was getting worst since r46.
I turned off my in game music ages ago. When we were still playing together, I'd play the Lord of the Rings soundtrack in place of the SotA music. Wish I could turn off those sighing women you hear in every town. Actually I've got a better idea - we should hear those sighing women while logged into the forum. That would be appropriate!
