POTs come with NPC buildings, e.g. a holdfast comes with one NPC building.

Any idea how many NPCs are supported per building? For example, if I have a holdfast with one NPC-owned building (let's say an inn), can I have more than one NPC in that building?

Ideally I'd like to have a merchant (maybe 2), and a bartender. Thanks for any input.

Good question. Naively I was assuming there could be multiple NPCs per building but don't really seeing an answer anywhere.

If you listen to @Darkstarr in the POT hangout, there seems to be a difference of villager NPCs which seems a POT can have several. But business/function NPCs seems tied to the building choice template.
So IF that is correct an inn can only have one bartender which can trade with people, but there could be other villagers hanging/living there.
One specific example and exception was the mentioning of guards. Which seemed fine to have in quantities relative to size of example settlements.
So IF that is correct you could have an inn with a bartender which can trade, some villagers as the regulars but you could also put in some guards for protection.

    • Central Square with 1 NPC owned building
    • 1 Add On Store House

Ok I searched the forums and the wiki about this before asking.

    town square
~ Where can I go in game to view a town square area /layout ?
    b - how will i recognize it?
c - is the town square the same size in every POT town?

    1 NPC owned building
    - what does this mean exactly? (what type of building or npc?)

    1 Add On Store House
    - what does this mean? what kind of store house? public? lockable?
    What does it look like?

any place inside the game i can see this stuff to get an idea?

any holdfast or hamlet (or both) already in the game that is viewable?

Current thinking is the town-owner will decide what the building will represent. It could be a shop that sells alchemy products, or a blacksmith, or a bank.

You pick a building from those available on the Add-On Store to use on your NPC building lot. :)

Not at the moment. Player-owned towns are still at a design phase, the devs have not yet implemented them. :)

None of the actual player owned towns are in, but you can compare sizes seen in the POT store with the towns that exist in the current pre-alphas.

There is a chance I misunderstood you. I was presuming you were looking for an in-game town for size comparison. The POT store on the main websites says a Holdfast is 2/3 Braemar, while a Hamlet is roughly the same size as Kingsport.

I would love to have more of theses questions answered. Also, i have a thought i did not see so far on the forums (it was a quick look only i admit) about POT NPCs. I think it would be fun for POT owners and their trustees to be able to control take control of a NPC in the town they own. I do not have any idea how hard this would be for Port to implement but it could be a lot of fun for the players. If you were able to use and NPC only in your POT, if it was bound within the confines of the town somehow, it has the potential to add some life to the place. Be a crusty old black smith for a day, a sympathetic bartender, a helpful member of the city guard, etc...
