In programming you always break something when you are fixing code, its part of their nature :D

I disagree. The last round of taming changes made it quite a bit better.

My spider takes about 260 focus to have out and I have to give up the neck slot for him and if he dies I can lose him forever. A fire pet takes about 110 focus to have out, I don't have to give up the neck slot for him and if he dies I can summon him over and over, oh and with both pets at gm lev the fire pet has more hp than the spider. Lastly the spider requires 5 gm's vs 1 gm for the fire pet.

    Seems broken to me.

@Chris, So we went to Torc Dawl the other night before your admission of a total good up. We all died at least three or more times to the excessive Critical Damage hits ranging from 450 to well over 800. Since two of our group were casting Fire Flies it made it far worse. So now, question is who is going to return the hundreds of thousands of Experience Points and the wasted time we have had to put ourselves through, especially on a Holiday Weekend. Who Chris? You do realize this is persistence and it is lost forever to us. Seems to me some things are not being fully tested, creating nothing but problems for the low and middle level players who fight in groups. But then again they do not matter right? So again who is going to make up for these losses? We did not cause the problem, why do we have to be the ones who have to absorb the losses?

If only I didn't have decades of software development under my belt to help me understand this. Very insightful. So you always break something when you fix it? No, you don't (btw - if you constantly break things when writing code, you will constantly be looking for a new job). Also, this is why you test your code, and the exact reason why I asked my question in the first place.

How could fireflies be tested and make it into a live build if one of the very things its supposed to do, provide you with a crit bonus, does not happen. The fact that it does something else isn't relevant at that point in a use case, we're not there yet. You tested an ability that is supposed to provide a tangible effect, it didn't. Upon more testing, the rest of the problems are noted in the bug report and it gets sent back to the devs, who clearly didn't test the code before they checked it in, so they can do what they should've done in the first place.

The dev's have tools we do not in order to ensure when they program something, the code they write is actually doing (at a minimum) what its supposed to. And, you know, whatever else is happening within the scope of whatever they're testing at the moment.

Bottom line here is someone didn't test their code. Then they checked it in anyway. Then QA didn't catch it.

    That's a problem.

I though you knew that's a popular old joke between programmers.

another good question would be, how did it slip by all the players constantly using fireflies? >.>

Nobody goes boss farming on the Test Server, waste of time lol. I do however completely agree with your premise that the testing "incentives" aren't worth a dog's fart for really getting a large volume of people in there to test though.
