[Info needed] New Patch causes full reinstall on Steam

This is the second day in a row that I've had to reinstall the entire game on steam because of a patch.


Whatever you guys are doing in the last 2 patches or so is causing my sota.exe file to become corrupted. Pro Tip: Figure out what's different between your normal patches from the last 3 years and the most recent ones.

I've tried all the other tips listed on steam, rebooting, clearing cache files, clicking on a bunch of random settings in Steam. The only thing that works two nights in a row (after there's a patch) is a complete reinstall.

I've been able to patch on steam myself without issues. Curious if you've done the verify file integrity check under properties?
I'm sorry for the issues. That must have taken awhile to patch.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I think I say 'issue' a lot. It's an issue.

 

I havn't gotten the full game download, but the patches themselves are not small; 3GB downloads through Steam. The only time I've had to download the full game again is if one of the patches fails to install, which happens from time to time on my 2nd machine.

Downloading Build Number 645 on Steam was only a 1.9Gb download for me.

 

Luckily the entire reinstall is only about 35 minutes for me.

But yes, I have done the verify file integrity check on Steam and it did not find an issue.

 

I had something similar happen with R44. Something corrupted during the patcher process and it had to re-install from scratch. I think it was the main unity asset that corrupted when it happened for me. One reinstall did fix it though...
