Is there anything I should go look up before digging in to the game again?

Tons of stuff is new, but primarily I would make sure you know the fundamentals of combat. Charging glyphs, deck building if you want to do it, stacking, combos, etc. Those were in there a year ago but I find that people don't know about many of them until dozens of hours into the game.

If some of that doesn't make sense, check out my very short tutorial vids. Jumping and Utility hotbar are changed now, ignore those parts of the videos.

    @Thirteen

So much has changed in the last year. Some of it you will find in the Release notes, but highlights that I think might be important for you:

    1. New User Experience on the Isle of Storms - this is the new tutorial area and where you choose which path and which starting area.
---> If you did not progress very far, you may want to re-roll your character and start fresh. The path and starting area are no longer linked together.

    2. New quests added in starting Outskirts areas.
---> Do these quests to see if the game hits the sweet spot for you.

    3. XP gain has been doubled.

    4. Skill decay has been removed.

    5. Free PoT Taxable Row Deed for completing the main quest line for your Shroud.

---> These are things off the top of my head for you to check out.

    By the way, welcome back!

well it looks like I won't be playing. :( My 8GB ram intel core i5 lenovo laptop just can't seem to load the came past 98%.... :(
After 2 hours of trying to get into the game, I give up, I have to do RL stuff now. I'll try again later... Thanks for the updates on what is new, sounds neat. I may re-roll as I am pretty new. I'll look up how to do that if I can get in game.

Hmm haven't seen that 98% bug in a while. If you're playing on Steam try verifying files, "Right click on Shroud in your Library -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files".

If you reroll, throw anything you want to keep in the bank first.

Have you lowered the graphics settings to the minimum before loading a scene?

Sorry to hear of your trouble, I can't play on 8MB either. You really need at least 12MB:

    Recommended:
    • Processor: Quad Core 2.8GHz or faster
    • Memory: 12 GB RAM
    • Graphics: DirectX11 Compatible AMD Radeon R9 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
    • Hard Drive: SSD
---> I play on 16MB minimum. But my dream laptop has 64MB.

I have gotten several 98% and 96% lockup’s as well.

    This problem might have returned.

I have not had one of those lockup’s for months and months....

Yeah that might not be your machine. They just did a new release this morning and there are, of course, new bugs. Try loading into the overworld map instead of into the zone your were last in.

My wife plays on an AMD A12 lenovo laptop with 8GB.

We had a lot of problems at first blush because her system was only utilizing four GB. Eventually we solved the problem by taking the ram out and putting it back in again.

Game runs fine even on a low-power mobile processor and the lowest-tier mobile discrete graphics (510 or something like that).

Its a slideshow in stress situations, but she's playing and loving the game.

I tried the log in to world option and got in. But what the heck.. no guild chat, I have to buy an orb with RL$ to chat... lame. I can't even ask anyone for help any more except in the forums. And that doesn't seem helpful if I am stuck in a map or a town or something. The mail system is broken, someone sent me information on where my stuff was and it dispeared when I tried to retrieve it and became a blank book. I am not sure these changes are good or maybe there are so many I should just completely start a new character.

Feel free to /w PLAYERNAME to send a person a message. You can also talk in the local and zone chat.

Also check the treasure chest icon at the top right for items .

I was just looking for a quick how do I find my character screen and inventory etc... I ended up going offline mode and starting a new character and going through some levels, and ended up in Blood River Outskirts. It helped me figure out the basics again and I think I am back on track to get going again. Thanks.

The new tutorial with Anais also covers the basics. She is by the Lunar Rift.

Hey @Thirteen I live near there. You can add me in game, Jason Moryn, and I'll be happy to help you out.

Glad to hear you're getting back on track.

Since you were already a backer, you should get an orb. Check your rewards window:
    • In the top right corner of the screen, click the icon to the far right
    • Click Claim Rewards
    • Drag the Universal Orb from the list to your inventory.
Now you can talk in /uorb universal chat.
