[Known] Pole arm Exploit allowing Catastrophic unitended Damage with Poisons

    1. Polearm weapons applying 2 applications of Poison Per hit in PVP and Duels Only

    4. Using poisons on a Pole Arm in a PVP/Duel battle will apply 2 instances of the poison per application. This results in double the poison effect. It will stack over the normal 3 stacks of the poison per target. The tool tip also shows the extra applications of the poison. It also according to the tool tip applies the secondary effects per application of poison in addition to the damage. Normally when attacking with a poisoned weapon in the case of Festering Death poison with one application of the poison it will tick 5 times for one stack without reapplication. Festering Death has a duration of 15 seconds with the poison ticking once every 3 seconds, so, 5 ticks normally. With the bug you get 10 ticks per application or per attack (it even applies the poison on a successful dodge), 20 per 2 and 30 for 3. So essentially Pole-arms are gaining the 25% additional damage on top of doing double damage in PVP and duels. It's not limited to just Festering poison it also occurs with Deadly and any other poison that does damage over time.
    5. Begin a duel with another player, equip a pole arm and apply a poison attack the other player and mouse over the tool tip and see the multiple stacks.

    In this First screen shot you can see 14 separate instances of 1 poison.

    In this next screen shot you can see I attacked the player once and there were 11 ticks of the poison when there should have been only 5.

    What's Funny is Optik Tank dodged the attack but still received the poison debuff.

    The next screen shows two attacks dealing double the intended poison damage.[​IMG]
    There are 21 ticks of poison after only 2 attacks. There should only be 10 ticks of poison with 2 attacks (5 ticks per application) You can see from the next 3 attacks after the 2 attack round ends that Optik Parries the next 3 attacks and still get's poisoned.

    @Lexie could you please look into this as it is causing quite a stir in the PVP community as there are several people out there abusing this exploit saying it's either a visual bug or that it's intended. Those of us that feel that it is an exploit, feel like it's being abused and used to grief Players as the Poisons stack insanely high leaving the recipient at a severe disadvantage as there is no counter as dodging or parrying the attacks still apply the poisons and the poisons are applying at double the speed of other weapon users.

    @Halfwitte - Not saying it's a permanent solution, but have you done any testing with Cure Poison Potions? Does it work against this "exploit"?

    If so, it might be worth stocking up on some in the mean time if you plan to PVP.

    It would be great if the cure poison potion actually prevented you from being poisoned for a short time, but since it doesn't it's quite futile in it's use as all the player has to do is auto attack to reapply 2 stacks of poison immediately after you cleanse it and the potion has a CD.

    @Lexie Thanks for your prompt response. We know you guys are super busy and we appreciate all the work you guys do for the game and it's player base. The victims of this exploit really needed vindication on this one, so now maybe those who have been abusing this exploit will wise up and stop.

    I figured as much, but thought it might be worth asking about just in case.

    Perhaps if it did add a short immunity to poisons (30 seconds maybe?) that would be enough to counter all these stacks.

    Or, maybe instead of a "cure" potion, just change them to a "poison resistance" that gave you 10 minutes of higher poison resistance? This wouldn't fix the extra stacking problem, but it might reduce the overall damage being caused by the poison stacks and make them worth using.

    Sorry, I'm not trying to derail the bug thread, just trying to suggest alternative fixes that might be good for the game (even after the stacking is fixed).
