Location: The Obsidian Trial Prizes: 1st Prize: Sword in the Stone Trophy (Medium) 2nd Prize: Sword in the Stone Trophy (Small) Participation Prize: Purple PvP Shard Trophy (for those who do not place) Executioner's Hood awarded to the playing with the most kills!! Gold Payout: 2k gold will be awarded to the winner of each round 1k gold will be awarded to the runner-up of each round Rules: In order for a match to be considered "valid" it must have a minimum of 5 players! NO offensive combat bard skills may be used. Only regen and buff songs are permitted. Scores: A tally of each round's winners will kept over the course of 10 'valid' rounds. Winners of each round will be awarded 2 points. Runners up will be awarded 1 points. The person with most points will win the 1st and 2nd place prizes. Everyone else will be awarded a Participation Prize! ANY winners / runners up will receive the gold payout based off their number of wins during 'valid' rounds. How to Register: Simply show up at the Location at the time of the event and participate! What is the Obsidian Trial?? The Obsidian Trial is a PVP scene that features capped skill levels. All players entering this scene will have all skills levels capped to 100. Gear is also capped and you will not receive any master work or enchanted bonus! A subterranean pit of sheer obsidian, in Novia near the east entrance to Nightshade Pass, hosts a deadly, 32-player PVP free for all known as The Obsidian Trials. Play sessions begin every 10 minutes with one minute of preparation time between matches. During the match, a poisonous boundary that deals extraordinary amounts of damage rapidly reduces the amount of playable area. If you are caught in the boundary you will die quickly so you must stay ahead of it. There is a lobby area where players go when they die during a match, prepare for new matches and replenish supplies from a merchant. The lobby is where you can also spend the currencies you earn from playing in the Obsidian Trials. The PvP scoreboard displays the timer for the match, show numbers of players in the match, display the winner, and resets for each match. When you are killed you do not lose any items, nor trophies, to the person who killed you! Instead, making any kill during an Obsidian Trial match will earn you Obsidian Skull Coins, which can be spent on temporary items like consumables (potions, scrolls, etc.), and winning an Obsidian Trial match that includes at least 5 players earns you Obsidian Medallions which can be spent on more permanent items like emotes and titles. I find that a bit confusing as it seems that the PVP areas all have unique rules - Verdantis Shardfall had as far as I remember skill reduced to 100, but not equipment. The Ardoris Arena had skill reduced to 100 and equipment to 25%? And Obsidian Trials are capped at skill and equipment... What exactly does it do to the equipment without Masterwork and Enchantment? The material bonus still works? Do the gems and jewels still work or are those considered enchanted? Is there only a lobby for participating players or is there any safe area for people who would just like to watch the fights, just like in the Ardoris Arena?
I am still looking into the most accurate sender for your questions. I wish I knew everything about PVP aspects of the game but I am learning a little each time through hosting the events in various locations! I have not forgotten or disregarded your questions! The only thing I can answer with confidence is that there is a lobby area but you will not be able to spectate the actual match as competitors actively fight. You can follow along with who get eliminated and who wins but won’t be able to see it first hand. I do stream these events so that is one way to watch the event from my player perspective.
