MMORPG just published an article on Release 7 and did an interview with Richard and Starr!

    http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/...atar-Release-7-Housing-Crafting-and-More.html

    Some interesting info:
It’s not part of this update, or any scheduled update yet, but crafters may eventually be getting the ability to mint coins. Starr points out that they’re still working out how they’d control who’s allowed to do it, but the current thinking is that guilds may be able to earn the right to mint new coins. Richard’s quick to add that they’re excited to have the system in the game because it puts even more of the economy in the players’ hands.

Also towards the end of the article, this great comment from the writer:
That’s probably the first time that I’ve ever heard of someone using PvP to improve their PvE combat system, but it’s brilliant.

You'll need to read the entire article to understand the context of that statement and read what Richard said regarding PvP!

I sure hope having the name "Sir Frank" meets the criteria.

It never fails, the first comment on any Shroud news is that it's P2W because houses. Port might need to do some serious damage control on that front.

Sir Frank is going to be his own country. Will the passports have flying monkeys on the cover?

They will face this criticism until they either:
    1) Talk about "win" paths which don't involve housing.
    2) Talk about other paths to housing which can be seen as complimentary.

The problem is if they leave things at "there's no real win, the game is about whatever you want" then tbh, housing seems like a really big deal. Because you've essentially said it's more dollhouse than game.

Great article, it should help in drawing even more attention to the game.Someone should quote that particular section on how balancing for PVP will make PVE only combat better in the major PVP threads. It should address some major concerns about how serious Portalarium is about PVP in general.

This worries me more than a little. Would he just be talking about filling what UO would have called a "Bulk Order Deed?" As in, the governing body of the land requests that a crafter produce X number of coints for Y payment? I'm ok with that, though somehow I don't think that is what was being hinted at.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't clear on how this would work or what limits they'll place on it. We'll have to wait for that Economy Megapost :)
