Mr Garriott's Portalarium Portal - Diary of Mr X

15 April 2014 - The Portalarium Portal

Through my network on Earth I’ve become aware of a US based company, Portalarium, who are finalising a technology to open up a fixed portal to an alternate universe. From what I can gather, the portal opens up on an island called Novia, part of the wider region of New Britannia.

Portalarium is based in Austin, Texas and is led by a man named Richard Garriott; I’ve activated a local agent to infiltrate the company and find out more about the man and his ambitions for the portal.

As of this date they have had only limited success in maintaining the opening and the access to the world beyond the portal is unreliable. Their present link to New Britannia seems to create a negative quantum effect and doesn’t lead to a ‘stable universe’, but rather test subjects have experienced what seems to be an erratic copy of the real universe, containing numerous anomalies and irregularities.

My agent, who has passed through the portal a number of times, has reported a reality sometimes so erratic that gravity behaves incorrectly, entire sections of the landscape are void of form and people often appear invisible apart from the clothing on their back. They have also only been able to keep the portal open for a few days at a time, normally around the end of the calendar month.

It does appear though, that with each passing month, the link they have created to New Britannia becomes more stable and Garriott seems to think they will have a link to the uncorrupted, original universe by the years end.

Phase I of the project has been code named Shroud of the Avatar (for reasons as of yet unknown to me).

I will report more of my findings over the coming months.

Terribly sorry sir - there was a larger than normal shipment of Britannian Ale prior to the R5 release - we had to keep the gate open for a while. Some intruder must have hidden in one of the wagons! It will not happen again.......
