Necromancy

Has this been brought up yet in the schools of magic? Not that I want to come across Time Lord's remains and use my skinning knife on him and taking his entrails and plant them in my garden to see what grows from them.

 

Folks definitely brought it up - but not sure if it lead to anything - in discussion or from a game dev perspective ...

 

Will be one of my favorites schools. Sadly in the R5 we didnt have too much of the death school to try.

 

In a recent dev chat, Darkstarr spoke about possibly requiring all Necromancy spells to have body parts for reagents. He also seemed to fancy the idea of collecting enough body parts of another player so that you could reanimate their corpse as an NPC...as I remember it.

It doesn't mean either of those things will be in the game, but the devs seems to have a very good imagination and want to experiment with some very cool Necromancy related things.

 

Purple llama support that dark idea, even if Im a lazy llama that dont care abour reagents.

I'm very much onboard with the darker aspects of SotA like Necromancy & summoning (probably clear from the cannibalism thread)... do you remember in which hangout they talked about this? It would be a big help to have that information while writing part 2 of my proposal.

 

Sorry, I don't remember off hand. If I were to guess, I would first look in the Dev Hangout (perhaps 1 - 2 months ago) regarding "magic" although very little magic was actually talked about.

 

I think they may have mentioned bloodroot/moss or something to that effect ... that essentially it would only grow where someone died (PvP) it may be needed as a reagent for spells

I think thats what they may have talked about - but it was one of those brief / not necessarily definitive conversations

 

In the Deep Dive video on Portalarium's Youtube channel I think it was the Pvp and Death Deep dive, unless I'm mistaken....

They do go into the ideas quite a bit there. Richard is obviously quite gleeful about it.

This is something that I think could really set the game apart (although my character has no interest in necromancy ... Bah! To the sword knave!)

And it's something that is "push-buttony" enough for a big game company to never want to take the risk, legally speaking, about the outrage that might occur... but it seems not all the team is agreed and even our own forum there are some long time members that are very opposed to it, so I'm not 100 percent sure on whether that is still accurate or not.

 

No interest here-- but I will SMUGGLE any of the REAGENTS or DRUGS you need!!! Maybe even body parts!!!
