Hey everyone, New to the game, played UO a loooong time ago. Heard about this game awhile ago, then saw on Rock, Paper, Shotgun that it should be fully launching relatively soon (2017). When I heard there were going to be no more wipes, I figured now is a fine time to jump in. If anyone wants to find me in game, still hanging out in the newbie areas for now, around Resolute. Name in game is Deb Arbrau. Just wanted to say 'Hi' and see if anyone had any suggestions for starting out. I've already started working on my mining and blacksmithing traits, and plan to focus on close combat and magic and play mostly PvE. Thanks, Deb
Welcome @debaubau! What server on UO you from? I think youll find plenty of old UO players around here. Personally i was on Napa Valley back when UO first launched for a long time. Inferno, was the gm of some of the more notable old pvp guilds- MoB and DoR(demons of the realm) man those days where so fun.
Hi debaubau! Welcome to SotA! Feel free to look me up in game - always glad to help out folks! Tips for beginners...take it slow. Don't barge Leroy Jenkins style into every battle for surely that direction lies defeat. Pick up everything and resell it in town. It won't get you a lot of gold, but starting out it really helps. Find a higher level character that will party with you to help you get through the first few levels. Sewers...caves...these places surely hold death for you in the lower levels. Other than that...stuff you likely already know: explore! talk to everyone! have fun!
Welcome to the forum and to SotA, @debaubau ! You may be wearing your purple "Outlander" tag. If you need some assistance, look for players that are wearing a purple "Hospitaller" tag, or use /z for Zone chat to ask any question to those around you. This is a great community with many helpful folks. If you have not already done so, use the "Claim rewards" button in your bank vault screen. Whatever has the description "Global" in your bank can be withdrawn at any scene's bank, but what you deposit is in the local bank where you placed it. Since you already found the forum, you probably have noticed the flood of information and feedback here. For a very short overview of the ingame commands and hints, look at the "New Player Handbook" in your inventory. Have fun!
Welcome Debaubau! You found a great part of the forum to also ask questions as they arise. Also, the official SotA Discord server (a VOIP service), here are two permanent invite links. One is for text chat, and one is for voice chat. Feel free to join us there for some live help! Live Chat with a Hospitaller on the Official Shroud of the Avatar Discord Server Live Voice with a Hospitaller on the Official Shroud of the Avatar Discord Server
Welcome to Shroud of the Avatar Debaubau. I am Majoria in the game. I'd be happy to answer any questions anytime when I'm online or here on the forums as well. Feel free to friend me in game and whisper hello. If I don't know the answer I can spam my friends list to try to get answers for you, they are use to it . Don't forget to use the 'o' key for emotes. We have some fantastic emotes in this game and just so you know others can teach you emotes as well, the ones that are teachable that is, and another thing some npcs when you talk to them give you emotes as well. A lot of npc dialogue is not yet in but there are some quest lines you can do. Also music, we have great music and lots of instruments in this game, So feel free to check that out. I would be happy to tell you what I know . Anyway there is a lot of exploration to know everything. *cheers*
Welcome @debaubau !!! I am Luca Xante in game. Feel free to friend me and whisper any time if you need help, advice or just company .
Welcome to the SotA family, debaubau! As you probably already know by now, Soltown is a great place to talk to the town folk and see what kind of assistance they need (lots of quests with XP in Soltown). You'll also see a post with skulls on it in front of places with bad guys. The more skulls, the more difficult the scene is.. so stick with the 1 skull areas for now. Feel free to friend me, "By Tor", in-game if you need any help or just feel like chatting.
