Non-consensual PVP Now Possible

    ya, and thats broken IMO. Its also making the oracle invalid. Its also not guild warfare.

    I actually agree with Ravicus on this one. This system does not represent a guild war but rather a stamina competition in regards to keeping pvp flagging on.

    I don't see an advantage to this system over offering rewards to the guild most successful at weathering pvp flagging for x days ending on day y.

    I mean if guild a is at war with guild b, while guild c is at war guild d , these rules effectively make it a 4 way free for all.

    the rewards associated with winning a guild war are dependant currently on you beign flagged by the war system, rather than basic open PvP

    Yes, so what they (Port) needs to do is take advantage of their selective states of play and give warring guilds their own warring state? They should be able to tell or track which guild is in war with another (pve vs pve or whatever) and you'd have no outside interference.

    Here's what I observe and suggest:

    1. Guild Wars are about wars between guilds ... with leaders boards and statistics.

    2. In a guild war, everyone in the guild is in the war with another guild (fighters, crafters, diplomats). That's realistic. Guild leaders and members must communicate as needed to ensure cooperation / no surprises / changing to another guild temporarily, etc. -- that's not for hard-coded game mechanics to solve -- guilds are communities of real people after all.

    3. The guild war should NOT flag all guild members for open PVP across the entire realm. That's not realistic nor probably desired by most guilds to have a meaningful fight against each other.

    4. For a large guild with many different types of people (fighters, crafters, diplomats, librarians, songsmiths), each type of 'trade' should be in different guilds and joined as an alliance. This is how we do things in UO (PaxLair Alliance has about 30 guilds, some are just crafters, others diplomats, others fighters, others bandits). We are then connected in Alliance Chat between members of all guilds. Then each guild also has their private Guild chat. So what we need is an Alliance system to make large communities work properly with in-game mechanics. Without an Alliance mechanic, communication and such needs to be handled out of game by 3rd party resources (Teamspeak, IRC chat channels, etc.).


    I can see we and the devs need to start down the path of guild wars sooner than later, even with some pre-Alpha basic / not perfect rule sets and capabilities. I believe it is worth testing and recommending changes.

    I guess that is one way of making it work. :) I would suggest though just making it so it is a different flag than open pvp. Make it a "duel flag" but for guilds. That way no one could interfere.

    And you don't think this system is heavily exploitable? Non guild player does 3/4 of the damage but but guildie does finishing blow. If you require majority damage by war participants they'll do 40% damage and target swap. If you don't give credit for kills including non war damage, people will use nonmembers to make their deaths costless.

    The system is a sloppy combination of open and closed elements.

    Is it flagging you truely open PvP. or jsut open PvP tward the opposing guild?

    Right now doing guild warfare flags you also for open pvp in addition to guild warfare.

    I could do without this, as it makes a min max game instead of enjoyment IMO.

    Okay, since I am the only advocate for the open PvP on guild wars, help me solve these scenarios.

    1. Nasty Bad Guys guild and Virtuous Knights guild are at war. VK's amorsmith is pinned down at a crafting station in owls by 5 NBGs. So, as a virtuous bystander, I can only watch the carnage? Where are the immersion police to back me up on this one?

    2. NBGs are now spread across 3 parties with nonguild members who are spamming heals at them without fear of being flagged in the conflict or affected by the VKs because the NBGS are not flagged for open PvP.

    This is a problem for the guild members, as they opted into it and do not expect your help. If you want to help, join the guild.
    This would be a broken mechanic and should never be in place.

    A "WAR" flag that prevents heals from non participants until it is over for number 2, as for number 1 i hate the "I" word lol

    Well, the WAR tag answer would make it very hard to group and adventure with people not in your guild.

    Okay, but now not only are you forcing your guildmates into war in the first place,; you're now dictating how they spend all their game time?
