So Daedalus in the sky has no cycle/phase. There is no such thing as a crescent or a full moon.
Yet the Lunar Rifts are built graphically around this premise. We have to check the cycle/phase to see the destination. Crescent gives one and Full another etc.

    What gives?

Are we to understand that there used to be Lunar Cycles/Phases back when the rifts were built, before shardfall, and that they still *magically* work according to no longer existing cycles?

There is still a moon, rotating around New Britannia, and a sun, so there ARE cycles. It simply is not possible that they both appear in the sky at different positions and there is no shadow present on the moon. The problem is that they are not currently appearing.

The sky is world centric. Daedalus is lit from within. So then it would be more logical to talk about Daedalus being in specific constellations.
But since it is old magic then the position cycle magic might correlate with the former lunar phases I guess.

The only logical thing would be if the locals talked about signs correlating with the ancient symbols (which we outlanders know are phases).
