I'm really not sure if this has been touched on yet but I did search the forums a bit and found nothing.

I'd like ghosts to not be affected by physical or poison damage. So, if you're using a melee or ranged weapon, unless you use a combo that includes magic, it should just miss and it should miss every time. (and by miss I mean the arrows, swords, and all other melee weapons should just pass through them)

Exceptions: if a weapon has "banish undead" on it then it should hit them. If you have "ignite weapon" active then the ghost should take the fire damage from the sword but not the physical damage.

Physical weapon exception: Silver melee weapons and silver tipped arrows.

It's a ghost. They pass through things. Things pass through them. It's a pretty constant concept through almost any ghost related mythos.

if they didn't have some physical presence, they wouldn't leave a corpse to loot of corpse wax and gold.

    Earth Elemental only Bludgeon, Water
    Air Elementals only???
Fire Elemental only Water, maybe Earth too (smother)
    Water Elemental only Fire

There are so many flaws, if they begin to fix it they recognize all the flaws of their skillsystem.

They have a very very high dodge/glancing bow percentages, so this is already mostly represented in the game.

    Doesn't make sense to me.

Other games have included some kind of physical weapon which could damage undead including ghosts. Some require silver weapons but they were physical weapons.

IMO anything magical, including physical weapons, should be able to damage them.

Hey, good point! I'd think silver weapons would be a cool exception as well. I'll add that in my request. Thank you.

This would tell me that ghosts are skilled at dodging all attacks, then, be it by arrows or by a lightning bolt. Applerust's point appears to be that they should be immune to physical damage, but entirely susceptible to magical damage - a sword passes through them harmlessly, but a magical bolt of lightning does not. This does not have anything to do with how quick or dexterous the ghosts are - unless they're all incorporeal ninjas, which is a separate issue.

Interesting recommendation since some system rules specify that only a magical weapon can cause damage to a ghost. However, since all of my weapons have an enchantment (and thereby magical), I would expect them to damage the ghost. Now if my weapon was only masterworked or was just a plain weapon, I wouldn't expect that to damage a ghost (but I bet it would in SotA). Maybe I'll try it out to know for sure. Cheers!

Its been touched on, I made the suggestion a long time ago :D

Although technically you're wrong about the mythos, in the sense that iron and steel were believed to cause harm to ghosts across most cultures,

"Cold iron is a poetic term for iron. Francis Grose's 1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue defines cold iron as 'A sword, or any other weapon for cutting or stabbing.' This usage often appears as 'cold steel' in modern parlance. 'Cold iron' is historically believed to repel, contain, or harm ghosts, fairies, witches, and other malevolent supernatural creatures.
    • Nailing an iron horseshoe to a door was said to repel evil spirits or later, to bring good luck.
    • Surrounding a cemetery with an iron fence was thought to contain the souls of the dead.
    • Burying an iron knife under the entrance to one's home was alleged to keep witches from entering.
In modern fantasy, cold iron may refer to a special type of metal, such as meteoric iron or unworked metal. Weapons and implements made from cold iron are often granted special efficacy against creatures such as fairies and spirits."
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_in_folklore

-> Iron Tabooed from The Golden Bough.

But this was because iron forging was considered magical by itself, and iron and steel forms of magic. I would agree anyway with the sense that in fantasy games its typically made into something special instead of ordinary iron, so ghosts are more difficult than just swinging your sword at.

I think it would be pretty cool, btw, if air spells like Gust did physical damage to ghosts, even though they don't do damage to any other type of mob, since spirits are lighter than air and all and if you're going to be able to blow them back you might as well damage them ;>
