Pattern question

    I've been salvaging quite a bit and got several patterns for Ragged leather stuff. I took a helm and applied the pattern. I don't understand. In the words of O.J. I would not wear the butt-ugly helm. What am I missing here? What is the use of these patterns?

    Some people want that look. Now granted these patterns drop way too much, so you can sell them to a vendor as vendor trash if you do not want those patterns.

    They are just a style option so you can try another pattern to see if you like it. Really I think most anything could replace the puffy plate armor we can buy on the merchant that makes players look like so funny. I would always pattern those ;) but just my opinion.
