Hey folks, I have a few new screenshots to share today of updates for release 38 being made throughout the Perennial Coast. This is a follow up to Sorcerer Steve's implementation of the new Asian themed assets in Ardoris. I am giving several scenes in that area the same treatment, including new architecture and vegetation. Below I have some previews of the changes being made to Solania. More updates will come as progress is made in new areas!

I do love the cherry trees and pagoda of the garden.

There once was a contest for naming the streets of Solania. I hope those remain intact for this makeover. :)

I love the tying together of several areas so it feels like a cultural region more than just one town.

Good work, I personally would prefer less torii around sequanna statue. In RL I only remember seeing them either as dominant stand-alone or as a sequence/"tunnel", but not in circular arrangement.

    This will look amazing.

My avatar does not live there, but Solania will get more visits from me.

While Torii are primarily used to indicate a transition between the profane and the sacred (physical and spiritual) planes of existence, the may also be integrated into statues and other art in a variety of arrangements that don't follow any particular rule structure. It's similar to the christian cross in the that respect. Also Miwa Torii (which is loosely what this structure is based on) are often arranged in a 'curve'. Check out the one at Shiraminegu, if you're interested. It's one of my favorites.

Those are still there, though I had to move some of the signs a bit for the new deco. Let our QA team know if you find something out of place.

We need add-on store cherry trees to go along with those shogun houses.

I remember @Time Lord shared some images of Buddhist Pagodas and Stupas that might be worth adapting.

Hi Sea-Wolf, I am surprised you know such a special Torii :)
Not sure why it has three gate though, it is said for three gods (main and sub)...
Or maybe it is come from gate like this
    https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/門#/media/File:Gokogu_Shrine_Kyoto_JPN.jpg
Main gate is for gods/nobles and side gate is for low rank people.

I understand it is Asian mix taste so, not only japanese style and those wood gates are used as usual decoration in village on other Asian country, but simple Trii seems japanese style, so I will try to say just for knowledge.

Torii and gardian lion is for shrine/god only in Japan. We don't use as decoration.

So I feel something curious is
    • Gardian lions at town entrance..... they facing oposite, garding invader from citizen???
    • As you say Torii is beginning of the way to shrine/god. So from my view, Trii behind of Sequanna is a bit curious. It looks like that large tree is the sacred tree and sequanna is gardian :D

Sorry for my poor English
