POT Template Selection

I am not sold on the idea of Dynamic POT, since I fully expected to be able to have a "one-on-one" design session. I keep seeing Biome's and Templates are being added and I thought...."Well, let me try a few on for size." However, I apparently am stuck with the very first Biome added and have never been able to select any templates other than Forest. So what gives? Am I missing something? I can't seem to change the biome or template in the Account Settings. I would have thought there should have been some functionality added so that we can change these things on the fly. Maybe, I would change my mind on Dynamic.

 

Just select another template. We have change from Forest to Island.
Once you do that it gets updated for the next wipe.

 

Right now the template and the biome are the same thing. If you look through the templates you'll see that the desert and the forest are exactly the same layout only with a different environment overlayed onto it. There are going to be new templates added, but nothing has been stated as to exactly what those will be. Some will be added Pre-final wipe and others added Post-final wipe. If you opt to have a one-on-one session to design your PoT then you need to choose the *Static* option on the PoT form. Static means that once your town is designed, it stays that way and you will never be able to make changes to it dynamically. There is more information about that in the above referenced thread.

Finally, as of the next release, R28, some things will be changing with regard making alterations to your town form. That information is included in the above referenced thread, but basically, town owners will have to lock their form if they submit a change. There will be a cost to unlock the form in order to submit other changes. This is covered in the PoT/housing update as well.

 

Select Biome and then a selection of Templates should appear to select from.

 

But if we change the template right now, it will be locked, right? In the other words, we can't really do the try and see which one we like by changing our own POT.

If anyone already have the forest 2 (grassland with lots of tree) on their POT, please let me know. I would like to take a peek before lock my POT form

 

Correct you can no longer try before you buy

 

Make some temporary Pots linked to hometown with each possible combination so people could check it out before they decide.

 

@DarkStarr Should I be concerned that the PoT Add-On home selection is no longer in the form?

Then there might be a problem with the form (or maybe my account) as I have had the town, which is in game, since 2015-10-15.

 

Did you upgrade the town since the expiration? This shouldn't have "lost" any homes, but there may be a bug in the process that did not retain the already owned selections "on upgrade."

 

I did and am thinking this is probably the situation. It's cool, guess I'll be the "hey he broke it" test guy on this one.

I fully understand how to select a biome and template. I just thought that we could temporarily change the biome and template after each wipe to check out other possibilities. Did not know once you selected from the beginning that you were stuck with it. The suggestion to have biomes and templates accessible in hometown is a good idea though.

 

You won't be stuck with it until the next time you press the submit button or when the deadline is due.

 

Hmm. We cannot reproduce this issue. Are you SURE you are talking about the Add On store buildings and not NPC buildings? If NPC buildings those turn off if you select dynamic

 

But I am stuck with it. I changed my template prior to this release and still have the old template. So only two things I can think of that are preventing me from getting a new template:

1. This release wasn't a full wipe

2. Having selected STATIC in account page prevents you from choosing any other template (even though you can choose in the account page).

 

Templates cannot change except when we wipe (please read my post)
