Question about masterwork crafting

Can the masterwork upgrade be applied to an object that already is a +1 or +2 item? Or can it only be applied to an unenhanced item?

 

you can keep applying more as long as it has sufficient durability left.

mind you, there are some basic world drops that might come with minor upgrades, making them +1 or +2, but those are not part of the crafting system.

 

I just tried creating a brand new item at the tailoring station and then tried applying a masterwork modification t it. Since the recipe is supposed to be teachable, I put the necessary ingredients into the called for panel, but get the message that no recope is known. What am I doing wrong?

 

you can only do that if the recipe is REteachable.

also you will need BOTH the recipe and the skill.

 

I have the Tailoring skill and have unlocked the Masterwork Tailoring skill. Now I need to find someone in all of Novia who can sell me the recipe.

 

The tailoring masterwork recipe is already in your book. It just requires 5 silver ingots.

 

The Tailoring Masterwork recipe was not already in my recipe book, although the Blacksmithing Masterwork recipe was. However, the tailor in Owl's Head had it. Now I have successfully upgraded an item.

 

My mistake. I thought the masterwork recipes were automatically added to your recipe book.

 

Also @Bonulino some recipes can be taught free by other players. I would be happy to teach you what I know that is teachable to save you spending lots of gold on recipes. Let me know anytime and we can set up a date and time.
