The arrows who are in the quiver (graphical) become invisible in 10 or 20 ranges for arrows left)

So like all visible more than 300 arrows(or 500 would be given usage more logical )

Then as numbers get lower one after the other the fletchings turn invisible so one can see wearing an quiver how many arrows are left, no ugly hud numbers or such

This might not cost too much in resources as particles but might not look too great.

However, grouped stages could make sense. Say, 4 objects, depicting different ranges of arrow quantities.

No need for particles, it is making each arrow in the quiver its own face and then switching alpha on or off, the routine counting arrows runs on user computer and should fire only each time arrow count in inventory changes (no idea how they handle different containers on char though, my arrows are, offcourse, in the quiver)

    Octagon of nodes in a cylinder + flight = 21 nodes per arrow x (N hundred arrows in a quiver) x (Y players in a loaded area) + texture(s)

Do you want your machine calculating all of those with all those players potentially moving about?

A lot of good game design is "cheating" out nodes and creating shape with clever textures.
