I am also having the same issue, Fire special instead. It is set to maintain. All other specials set to decrease. Cast any spell (Light or Enlightenment for example). My maintained Fire special automatically switches to decrease.

Ok, what I had to do was regain my skill in Water up to 20 then I set it to maintain, are you telling me you cannot have two set to maintain , One has to set to train and another to maintain?

I see @Attenwood replied with a fix but, I need to be able to set two too maintain, if not possible not a fix. I do not have the exp to just let a skill like that eat up experience.
I guess I will decide weather I want to train one a little more or just not play until it s fixed, will check again tomorrow.

At the moment (build 736) setting any two specialist skills to maintain is fine until you actually use a skill. I have Earth and Tactics both set to maintain but when I cast Earth's Embrace on myself it sets the earth specialist to unlearn.
Essentially it means I can't fight without losing skills.

Setting both of them to maintain and using ANY skill will set one of them to untrain.

Having the exact same issue with Tactics and Heavy Armor. Setting both to 'maintain,' then using any skill from any school will make both 'unlearn.' I noticed this after downloading today's patch.

I have the same issue, but with 2 specializations. I finally was able to get Taming and Healing to 80 each (after draining my Ranged and Blade XP to nothing. I did purchase other specializations - like tactics, but it is turned down to unlearn.
If I have one turned to lean and the other to maintain - as soon as I auto attack or use a skill - the maintain skill auto switches to unlearn.
If both are set to maintain, they both switch to unlearn as soon as I do anything.

Am I right in that you should be able to turn 2 mastery skills to maintain or one to learning and the other to maintain? That's how it worked in 735.

    1. Title: Specializations not checking for unlearn properly
    2. Reproduction Rate: Every time
    3. Blocker? Well, if you don't want to lose your specialization level - Yes. :)
    4. Details:
If I have one turned to lean and the other to maintain - as soon as I auto attack or use a skill - the maintained skill auto switches to unlearn.
If both are set to maintain, they both switch to unlearn as soon as I do anything.
    5. Steps to Reproduce: Reset learning and maintain - use a skill - watch one switch to unlearn.

I am having the same issue with Blades and Heavy armor. I will say that I trained Blades and Air both to 80 first, then decided to unlearn air with a scroll. Air is still at 1 and set to unlearn. Blades will keep its maintain status, but Heavy armor will go to unlearn as soon as i use any spell. Hope this helps.

Same issue here with Blades, even if i set everything else to unlearn and blades to maintain as soon as i use any other skill tree skill blades unlearns, so as of right now the game is unplayable without losing xp and skill levels.

I am having this issue as well, I have a Obsidian Potion of Guidance running as well. Not sure if this is causing the issue or not.

Same situation here. No Obsidian potion of Guidance consumed here, though. I think this has broken the game and made it unplayable for any Avatar that has started learning a Specialization. Yikes. Looks like they are aware and trying to fix.

So 737 may possibly fix some of the unlearning/learn/maintain issues, but I have some news to share. We have isolated another related bug with this spec system that is not fixed in this build.
But, fear not. You may still be able to set some things the way you want them. If you can't, I patiently ask you wait for our next fix to roll out. We're working very hard on it.

Here is a possible workaround (using two specs as an example) for the time being. It's a little counter-intuitive.

Status: Two specs are at unlearn.
Goal: set one to learn, one to maintain.

1)Set the one you don't want to learn to: learn
    2) Go back to the one you want to learn (currently at unlearn) set it to: learn

One click each. Do not rotate through them all and then circle back around. The one you don't want to learn is at maintain and the one you want to learn is at learn. But double check to be sure.

This is the simplest way to explain it but depending on how many you have learned at some point, your miles may vary.

Edit: This is a work in progress. If you change scenes, hit K and look to see they are still the way they should be. In my testing so far these rules are staying in place upon zoning and restarting.
