In Crag Foothills Archers, Swordsman etc... are able to mimic Mage spells i.e. Death Ray, Blink, and Healing RTay.

This is by design as part of the improved AI changes :) High tier physical damage dealers (archers, melee, etc) can use a mix of magic. The idea is if players can use a mix of skills, why not NPCs?

So, our game is now more bland. All enemies are are less distinctive... brillent. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?

I have no idea about the lore, but I feel like the player should be somehow special in this world, but hey, thats just me.
Havent logged in for a while, but archers were pain then, so yeah, giving them access to spells, sounds like a great idea. I can already visualize how archers cast root on melee fighters, can we have that?

Skeleton Mages are using disabling shot without a bow equipped. They must have good throwing arms.

By the same token, NPCs should require the same equipment as players must have in order to use the glyphs...

then they should have the same restrictions as the avatars of ftheir level... and not be able to cast fireball and fire arrow instantly without pause and blink at a far longer distance as my avatar can with blink level 44....and never fizzle in heavy armor...

or hit with piercing shot with a staff equipped ...?!?!

Whoa, whoa, folks. Let's work this one out. Let's not all assume we are talking about the same thing here.

Now an Elf Fighter casting, that can happen now. But shooting arrows without a bow seems off; that would be odd to anyone. Let's focus on the possible bugs involved with this change in the QA forums, and those bugs only. The mix of magic and physical damage is gonna happen, but we want it to make logical sense. The feedback information isn't gonna get you much traction here like it would in the discussion forums.

I'm submitting a bug for skeleton mages using various arrow skills without a bow equipped. That is something I can manage via JIRA.
    Bug #: 52316

Let's not make this into a long thread about feedback please because then I won't catch the bugs in time. Thanks so much for helping the Lexie out....

Edit: I have stickied the thread for higher visibility as various threads are popping up.

Multiple bug reports today about mobs incorrectly using skills they shouldn't have. A *small* part of this is by design, we did add new skills for higher tier npcs... BUT.... the rest of this is a bug.

The bug is a side-effect from faster load times.... We're making more use of pooled objects (reusing some components instead of re-creating them from scratch). Some of these objects had left spell abilities - and were inadvertently giving mobs spells they otherwise shouldn't have. I've fixed this for the upcoming patch.

    Thanks for all the reports.

Sounds like "The Fly"... the NPCs got scrambled while being re-assembled. ;)

Did you fix it just for mobs? Because I had an Air Elemental and a Water Elemental casting Fireball tonight (first Ele I summoned was Fire, then changed scene and summoned the other two).
