Silver Gone From Graff Gem Mines, Now What For Taming?

So, to the best of my knowledge, the only consistent source of silver ore in all of Novia & Hidden Vale was the Graff Gem Mines, up until R27.

Now, in R28, the entire mine/dungeon has been revamped such that there is not a single silver ore vein in the entire scene.

Given the current taming mechanic consumes collars both on failure and success, and at least 500 collars are required to get to GM taming, and taming collars require bindings and straps in addition, is this working as intended?
2000 silver ore (there is no metal scrap recipe for silver ingots)
1000 iron/other ore (metal scrap recipe for ingots) for bindings
and however many hundreds of straps.

All for one skill? I've never seen such a steep consumable requirement for any mechanic in any persistent multiplayer online game in the past 20 years. Now, sure, if we're going to set the bar this high and this is working as intended?
Please just confirm this is the case so we can make an informed decision regarding attempting to skill up or test Taming further.

If there are new consistent sources of silver in the world, that would be great to know where they are, so that testing of Taming can continue in R28, R29, R30, and R31.
If I am ignorant of existing/other consistent sources of silver in the game world, by all means, enlighten me.

 

Look in Elysium

 

Hilt has plenty of silver last I knew.

 

Some of us may hate this, but it was said that resource nodes were going to be restructured .. as in lets say kingsroad had a lot of pine today ..the next release it may only have iron or copper and no trees (not saying this is true() but saying your preferred zones will change.

Continue testing by exploring all of the game world looking for silver :-D

I have just run through almost all of the new zones and towns added, which also brought me through many control points. Silver is easily found in any 4-5 skull zone, I can say that much. Iron too, but depends on the zone. I recall Vertas Pass having lots of silver and iron, more iron than silver.

But yes as stated, resources will be restructured with each release. I believe the final plan is to have some resources unavailable in certain regions, so I would anticipate resource availability to change drastically.

 

I can't seem to find the Elysium Mines. I found Twin Foothills but can't seem to go north to the Mines, which is where sotamap.com tells me the Mines are. Any tips? Thanks!

 

The entrance to the Elysium mines is inside Twin Foothills. So, go into Twin Foothills to find the Mine entrance.

Well, I found a metric ton of gold, and some diamonds and sapphires in Elysium Mine, but not a single node of silver. I'll keep looking. It's a real shame Taming is gated behind such difficult content.

 

You are looking in the wrong room. There is also a lot of onyx in the room with silver...

 

Hilt (hidden tunnel and obsidian forge) is a MASSIVE source of silver.

While guarding our lovely obsidian blacksmith, I was able to mine 72 ores, between one elemental respawn and the other.

 

That's not the bottom!

You still miss another two areas. One with an hidden tunnel, and the other with hidden access but walls littered with silver. Of course, very well guarded.

All the iron is gone too... and the Onyx crystals too ... I found silver in Blackblade pass, but you need to fight all the fire eles to get to it... I hope they put more break out walls in Graff and put the iron back, the critters re-spawn now which make it more interesting... Gold, I haven't found any uses for it, can't even make jewelry with it, pretty strange...

 

You should be able to make jewelry with gold in smelting. For a while there was a bug that allowed people to make arrows with gold as well, though i have no idea whether that is still present. As for Iron, Graff was always largely inferior compared to Etceter anyway.

Onyx is found with silver in abundance in Elysium.

 

There is also silver in Vertas Pass
