https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/?page_id=35155 I think it must have been yesterday... Well approaching the 5M mark...
I am pleased to see that the amount coming in, seems pretty steady. However, I didn't realize that only 38k accounts have backed in some fashion out of almost 130k. Just imagine if the other 100k even put in as little as $40.
congrats to the Sota team and thanks to the backers although I have no idea how crowdfunding games work in detail but 5 mil seems reeeeally low if you compare with other games developpment costs, a game under 20M just isnt good and thats a fact, thats why Im wondering how its going to work. Have they loaned money from the bank or is it rly all going to be paid with only our money? Also I dont understand why we dont have more say big companies sponsoring the game or investment companies. Someone enlighten me please
we should expect to see this number rise as we get xloser to beta. All in with stretch goals and item mall add ons I could see this title with $7mil+ at full launch with Steam support. For the last 3-6 months there has been competition in the sandbox genre of games- Albion, ArcheAge, Pathfinder and Shards Online- now that some of the covers have been pulled back, it looks as though SoTA has the most upside potential for a true sandbox game. ArcheAge imho is a flop with its limitations and more of a sandpark style, Albion is a cartoony multi platform game (Shards looks similar as well) that reminds me too much of Clash of Clans and Pathfinder is at least 1yr behind SoTA. Now hurry up and open the servers for 10 already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I firmly believe that 10-15M is readily achievable the way SOTA is progressing now. The rest depends on how the greater gaming public receives open beta once it launches.
Entirely disagree unless there is some major influx (30k+ new backers) here. Given the numbers, the averages, and both tracking and aggregating the numbers over a solid 16 months worth of trendlines, this project, if it launches in March, should have a solid $6 million. To double that into the 10-15 million range, at current averages per new backer, it would take ~~36707 new backers (as of the last 2 hours). That is a 197% growth of new backers over what we already have. https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/?page_id=35155 Cheers.
Btw. does the figure include Refferals/Alienware and the 'fees'? That would mean they'd have far less than the 5 million to use.
It is whatever they include. I only pull the numbers they provide, so I assume the pledge "amounts" to also include the special coupons like turning a 20$ pledge into a $45 dollar one for "appearances". If that is actually money or not, can only go by what they share.
Very nice the game is going strong and I'm pleased to say I helped with another $1500 contribution to elevate my account to Baron 3 today their hard work is really turning out something special.
Glad that you're enjoying the current releases. While I don't speak for the community or the Devs, thank you for your tremendous generosity. I'll buy you a mug of ale at the tavern next time I see you in game
Cheers/lifts Mug..... many thanks and I also upgraded/bow... tho not that much/salute... such an exciting time in the Kingdom.
