SotA Music Discussion

Now that the unofficial music contest is over, I figured I'd make a thread where we musicians could talk about SotA music, production and share work to get feedback.

Also, just a reminder to those who don't know, we also have a chatroom on the SotA chat server. Just click the chat tab at the top and when you get in, type "/join #sotamusic".

Well from what I heard it's quite good. Not extremely medievalist (no pythagorean tuning or anything like that) but it feels like it fits. It's natural and acoustic feeling enough.

 

I love the coastal song! :3

 

Now that's great, almost like playing the game - reading the forums while playing the music.

There'll be a playlist every month, both of in-game submissions and general fan inspired material. Kind of a melting pot of listening fun.

I encourage you to make a soundcloud account and follow your favourite artists, it is very encouraging to musicians to have listeners

@Abydos Both Ember Isolte https://soundcloud.com/isolte and Sharm http://soundcloud.com/sharmie have sang in the Warcraft community and they're working with some of us. Charming young ladies Sharm has some parts in the 'Skywind' soundtrack.

The pair of them are making 'debut' appearances in R4's musical landscape.

As for Malukah, send her a message about it. The music is being driven by community efforts and there's nothing preventing anyone from contributing, if they can create something beautiful for the game!

I agree. Higher the better!

 

Is there a place where they have the current music in game we can listen to?

I'd like to discuss which pieces we like and which ones we don't so much. I like most of the music but there are 2 pieces I'd like to never hear in my adventuring (Sounds too modern for my classic tastes)

Ome - I'm really digging your music.

 

You can comment directly on the waveform of the soundcloud API ... But given the sensitive nature of some artist try to keep criticism constructive. We're trying to create beautiful art for the game. All music is subjective to the listener but rest assured that Portalarium has the final say on what goes in game and where.

Thank you for your encouragement Margard, we have a long way to go but it is truly inspiring to us to have the warm reception so far. I am frequently being approached by new composers, so there is a lot on the horizon, and room for everyone who takes pride in the quality of their work
