    Welcome, Avatar!

The Bards of Poets' Circle Guild is a collection of musicians, storytellers, poets and other artists who have come together to collaborate in the production and development of Shroud of the Avatar. The Guild was issued a Royal Warrant to signify Portalarium's encouragement of our initiative and continued efforts.
Our priority is the creation of a historical community-inspired soundtrack which will heighten the immersion into New Britannia.

You can find our website at http://poetscircle.net and our soundcloud here.
Make sure to stay in the loop by subscribing to the mailing list at http://list.poetscircle.net for periodic treasure troves of information and creativity in your inbox.

Portalarium has given us the necessary music direction, in a handy google spreadsheet consisting of a list of all instances that require music, and the 'bounty' (a financial reward) for producing the track in question:

Crowdsource Music Request List + Naming & Placement Guide

One of the primary things to note is that certain areas of the game have 'Front Line Pieces' whose themes extend into other songs, including "Major Pieces". This means that musicians will likely be borrowing musical ideas from other musicians' songs.

Why is this important? It ties the entire game together, musically, giving the Shroud of the Avatar universe a feeling of wholeness and completion.

When you are producing a musical idea for a particular 'Theme' or 'Map Name', you will be able to reserve some production time on that piece with a deadline of one week. It will be expected that once reserved, you are able to complete a song in this time, or the slot must be freed up and made blank again. You may also only reserve one slot at a time. This is to ensure that production continues to meet Portalarium's development schedule, and to prevent conflicts of interest between contributors.

It is suggested that you already have a rough musical idea to work with before you reserve a slot. This system needs to be rather strict.

You will need an account on soundcloud.com in order to post your work in the submissions thread of this sub-forum. Soundcloud embeds into the Shroud forums, and the waveform itself can be commented on with enough precision to offer suggestions and feedback at certain parts of your song. The songs can also be reposted on the Poets' Circle soundcloud.

    And, if desired, showcased at:

    http://poetscircle.net/showcase

Submissions go through a process of approvals. First, approval is given to reserve a song as 'In Progress' on the spreadsheet for one week, with the composer's name.

Assuming completion, Poets' Circle will either give feedback, or give 'PC Approval' to the track.

Once PC Approved, Portalarium takes over and decides whether or not the track meets their Development criteria. If it is approved by Portalarium, it will be marked on the spreadsheet as SotA Approved.

Finally, when the song is formally submitted to Portalarium through their submission email/dropbox (whatever they decide to set up) and payment of the bounty has been sent to the musician, the slot will be marked as PAID.

Again, everything will be updated on the Crowdsource Music Request List + Naming & Placement Guide, which will be updated frequently and remain viewable by all.

The music is in the hands of the Community, so let's do our best to both produce great songs, and respect and collaborate with one another to get the work done. This has always been the stated aim of Poets' Circle.

Please note: You do not have to join the Guild to be a contributor. While Poets' Circle does have a Guild component, it is often easier to think of it as a loose collection of independent and individual creative people, helping one another with feedback and resources. You're welcome to 'formally' join us on our Roster at http://poetscircle.net/roster or march to your own beat: it's all good!

I am not a Portalarium employee. Just the poor ol' bard who rallied a few rag tags together in the beginning, shortly after the Kickstarter Campaign. We understand there will be a lot of questions, and if I cannot answer them I will be in touch with FireLotus and Richard so that your questions reach the people within Portalarium who can get them answered.

Please be patient with this process, it is an ambitious undertaking and we all appreciate the good vibes.

    May you all find inspiration,

~Sir Holt Ironfell, Grandmaster Bard of Poets' Circle

    "Avatar's Radio Request Line?"
Will the Poet's Guild be providing free content there?
How many of the Poet's Guild works can be heard on Avatar's radio right now?
Do you have any plans to open up a "free way" for them to be played there, if they are not now?
    ~Time Lord~

I wasn't thinking of the radio, but if they ever happen to rent out a performance hall in game.

My sincerest apologies for not having responded to this message when first posted, and thank you Kailef kindly for responding to it ~bows respectfully~ Avatars Radio and Poets Circle are seperate community entities, however they are indeed working together in the sense they bring the communities artists together so they can be heard. Poets Circle gives a place for all the wonderful artists to come together. Avatars Radio gives another means to spread the joy of their talent to the ears of the listeners.

As was stated, Avatars Radio already works closely with the Poets Circle and appreciates the sounds of all community members, whether musician, poet, narrator of story.

Lord Baldrith and his voice actors (not part of the circle but still a great part of the wonderful community we get to enjoy the writings of!) have 2 shows a week where community poetry and such is recited, it is amazing!.

We welcome the sounds of the community over the sounds of the terrestrial. It is of course a needed that the two mix together. However, we are all from earth so it makes sense we would also bring the music from where we came from before entering the rift. We come as ourselves so we would bring what we would listen to there (thank you Kailef for that point ~smiles~)

The community artists already heard on Avatars Radio are listed here : Wonderful Community Talent

We have always since conception welcomed and even say loud and proudly if anyone has something they would like submitted to please do so, both on air and on AvatarsRadio.com. . We have our own website and area for posting which is not in this thread, but can be reached here: Radio Thread
