That's good to know. Luckily the SotA launcher patches itself, as does Steam.

Well on the possitive side, if one's not working you can always log in to the other...
I've used Steam it's ok, no complaints. Lot of variety prices seem reasonable.
If you have a decent internet "and I think we all do" downloading a game is just clicking yes add that to my credit card
on some games there s the buyers remorse naaaa
You don't have to have all the DvD cases laying around like the deck systems it keeps them all.
    I think its good/ok

I was having big issues playing on Linux with the normal Launcher, it would get stuck and the only way to get around this is to download the torrent data files as they're uploaded, now with Steam this doesn't seem to be an issue as I can get further into the game than the last couple of Releases (I literally couldn't get past the launcher issue not being able to download the game).

We shall see how it actually plays this Thursday.

Has there been anything said about making SotA available around the clock every day, coinciding with releasing on Steam?
I have a feeling many new people on Steam who know nothing about SotA could be miffed if they splurge 50$ one day, but can't play the current build until the next release weekend is due.

That said, I like Steam and will try that way of distribution.

Edit: Found the answer in this thread - yes it will in december:

I found the steam install and launch to go very smooth. I do wonder what the steam crowd will say about needing to log in to SotA after already logging into Steam. History has shown Steam users to be critical of such things.

Sorry, I only read "Yeah the whole steam discussion..": My assumption is that you like steam, and think it's good for this game! I heartily disagree! <<this is strictly satire, please don't take it seriously. ;P >>

Steam is in my opinion just another DRM like Origin and Uplay.
However that doesn't bother me, I have around 300 games on it and have used it for years.

Sure there's parts of it that annoy me and I don't like that it has become a monopoly, but having Shroud of the Avatar on there makes perfect sense, I mean millions of extra eyes on your product is hardly a bad thing.
As long as the choice still remains not to use it, I don't see the problem of Steam being a choice.

We are working on an auto-login method for Steam users, which will hopefully be in before the early access launch.

The only problem with 'auto login' from Steam to SotA is that some people (myself include) may use different accounts for the two. So how will that work?

Good point. I would never use the same email with steam as with a game like SotA. perhaps users who use different accounts just won't be able to auto-login, and that will be fine.

Perhaps on the first time start up you can specify the account to use with SotA and Steam will use that and not the Steam account. Just a thought.

The accounts seem to be already linked. It appears to have happened during this process. Not sure what will happen when regular steam keys are used tho. I suspect that they will be linked somehow then as well.

After you have installed the Steam connection, you run it and it takes you to the sign in page where you sign into the game as Usual.
Theerfore, you sign in with which ever account you wish to use.

Yes, that's how it works currently... but BurningToad just stated this ...

and if it Auto Login's with your Steam account that may not work with SotA if the accounts are different.

Auto-login will thus likely only work if you've bound your Steam account to your SotA account.

From what I understand you will still be able to login using the normal method if you choose not to enable auto login with your steam account which is already linked to your SotA account when you redeemed the steam key on your steam account on your SotA account page. Also I would like to add I tested SotA with the steam client completely closed and it works perfectly fine. However this may change after they add in auto-login and other features I'm going to keep testing that function at this point Steam offers updating the game but by having a shortcut directly to the game you can still launch it without steam even being open. Of course everyone has the option of using the non-steam version.
