When will game launch?

Depends how funding goes.

As long as people keep pouring money into SotA development could go on indefinitely. (Years and years )

In my opinion, the game will launch early to mid 2016.

This is defeating. I just included my name and password into my last will and testament. Enjoy my hat collection kids.

 

I used to answer "when" questions with 32 Neverary. Now I answer them with "sometime between now and the end of time." As for SotA, they will launch it when it's ready.

 

I am hoping for Q2 2016 personally. Plenty of time for a solid alpha and beta before launch.

 

18 Apr 2017. That's how long it will take me to get to Baron level and buy a crossroad village on a Payment plan I can actually afford.

I had a closer look at Kickstarter and found:

From that I deduct that we should have hit hit Alpha (I think we are still in pre-Alpha according to this update from Feb. 2015) quite some time ago.
And we should have had a release half a year ago.

I wonder what would define a alpha/beta/final release. My guess would be product requirements complete/feature complete/no showstopper bugs in the product.
Given the current delay from the original promise I would not be surprised if we wait for another 2 years - at least.

 

My turn....

For me, the farther away the better chance I will actually break down and get a new computer. My laptop is old, but strong, the biggest weak point is the old video card that cannot be replaced. It's what causing my difficulties with SotA.

Time of the actual release??.....when more than 50% (maybe a bit more than that) of the folks who will express a (well put together) opinion are in agreement that we are ready to rock and roll and I don't think that will be an easy thing to get done. I figure that's gotta be somewhere around late Q1 to early Q2 of 2016.

Alpha occurs until it's feature complete, I believe it's also the time a lot of game mechanics get reviewed for play ability, beta is usually balance/play testing/bug squashing. final release means the game is balanced, few bugs left. (Some games never reach that state).

My guess is beta will be Nov 2015, then release will be about march 2016.

Depends on what you define as 'launch' of the game, are we talking about completed EP1, out of EA on steam and phased lot placement occurring, or a more modest 'launch' prior to that where we have a lot more content than now and the character wipes have ended but there is still further content to finalise and housing is not permanent or even placeable yet?

All some players will want to see early on is the end of wipes as its hard to get attached to a character while this is still happening, the housing lots could stay empty for a month or two after that as long as the game was fully playable. Might even attract more players to buy pledges and add-on lots prior to final placement as well, generating more revenue at launch, players would also be found eagerly scouting out potential house spots on the completed map...

It could make sense to launch with a delay on final house placement as no doubt some housing locations will be locked out at the start as I believe areas of the map will not be reachable until some quests are done. Not everyone will want to place near starter zones.

Maybe the game will have more than one 'launch' date?

I have thought about this from time to time and with zero xp on the subject matter I will​

That gives me an idea, can we make this a bit more exciting and open up a SOTA account and put some of those Store Credits in there for the winner? Say $5 for each contestant.​

 

Not while the devs, who have control over the outcome, can read this thread.. people would declare the contest 'rigged'. But I love the idea otherwise..

Alpha-31 October 2015,
Beta-22 March, 2016;

Official Launch: 24 September, 2016. (19th anniversary of UO's launch date)
This would allow enough time for polish, and make it easier to promote through tradeshows and online publications.

They could hold a special holiday sale end-of-year 2016, as major patches go in, the game economy stabalizes, and their Episode 2 Kickstarter is launched.

 

I'm with him I could care less when it launches I just want to play and not have to worry about any more wipes

 

Q4 2016 is about right. This accounts for future slips as well. Also I'm a time lord. Time Lord Smith.

Although the good thing is right before the release of the game there will be a resurgence of hype. It will be on people's radar before it launches.

So any current and future pledges are safe. It all works out in the end, and everybody lives happily ever after. HAHahahahaha
